Big Pun & Friends

By Nymz, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I love flying the punisher and dropping bombs and rolling out of the way - What do you think about this list?

100 points

PILOTS

“Deathrain” (43)
TIE Punisher (26), Fire-Control System (2), Proton Torpedoes (4), Extra Munitions (2), Cluster Missiles (4), Cluster Mines (4), Munitions Failsafe (1)

“Omega Ace” (24)
TIE/fo Fighter (20), Push the Limit (3), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

“Omega Leader” (21)

Academy Pilot (12)

Proton Torpedoes, Cluster Missiles, and FCS are more for Redline than Deathrain. You'll want to take Proton Bombs and Cluster Missiles/Conner Net for Deathrain. Also you'll want to switch FCS for Advanced Sensors so you can pre-boost, then drop Proton or drop your Conner Net on top of something right in front/behind you. AdvSen just gives Deathrain even more flexibility.

You don't want to overload Punishers with ordnance, even though Extra Munitions gives great value. Keep in mind that TIE Punishers are only slightly more durable than a B-wing. 9 health sounds like a lot, but 1 def isn't. You can easily be killed in 1-2 rounds of combat, so it's not worth giving any Punisher more than 2 secondary weapons when taking Extra Munitions.

Even with only two bombs, your Deathrain is clocking in at 40 points, so you have to try to keep it alive for as long as possible otherwise you'll be fight an uphill battle.

Taking Omega Ace is a good start since he's so threatening. More Academy Pilots will help form a durable anchor to your list.

Something like this:

Deathrain

Advanced Sensors

Proton Bombs

Conner Net or Cluster Mines

Extra Munitions

Omega Ace

PTL

Twin Ion

Academy Pilot x 3
