Solo Campaign: Growing Shadow

Hey all!

You can also find and follow me on Google+1 with the same name.

The linked blog in my signature is work in progress, so needs time to be interesting.

Google+1 is getting better information.

SOLO CAMPAIGN

I'm new to this sort of roleplaying game and decided I would play a solo game where I'm both player and games master. Not being antisocial, just want to learn the rules before expanding to other players.

My characters are a human and his R2 astromech.

I know where I want them to be, but they start off as a Spy:Scout and an Engineer: Mechanic.

Both used their experience on improving characteristics, but the extra experience of a droid meant R2 got the first level of his Talent Tree.

Later, R2 will become a Spy: Slicer and possibly a Rebel Recruit.

First experience of the Spy: Scout will go to Force Sensitive Emergent. When he comes to the attention of the Rebellion, he'll then become a Rebel Recruit before the Force truly grows strong within him and he works his way through the Force and Destiny Guardian Talent Trees.

One other thing: my character and his astromech live inside an abandoned GR-75 Transport a few miles from a major city. I plan on giving the ship some background, and I'm thinking R2 was a part of the crew, as one day I want it to take off and join the Rebellion.

Not wanting to give you a wall of text, I'll tell you about the campaign soon. There's a lot to tell.

THE GROWING SHADOW

Timed 10years before A New Hope

The campaign starts with NPCs.

Two Empire Agents, COMPOR and DESTAB meet to discuss a serious situation. The governess of the planet is very popular, speaks out for species rights and condemns Empire atrocities. Due to her popularity, they can't just arrest or assassinate her. That would risk turning the population against the Empire which their superior's would not be happy with.

Knowing a powerful and influential Hutt, who gains much from doing business with the Empire, the DESTAB Agent suggests travelling to the Hutt Kajidic's planet. There they can arrange for a mercenary assault to capture the governess and take her to the heavily guarded Hutt palace. Of course, the Empire will try to stop the kidnapping but they're limited by the governess's refusal to allow a military presence on her world. As a bonus, they'll use the fact that aliens perform the kidnapping to stir up prejudice. This act will help the Empire to occupy the world and start importing alien "workers" for the farms and mines.

I'll play this out, both the negotiation with the Hutt and the attack, but from here the campaign starts.

My character is just surviving on his own with an astromech. He does jobs for people, helps out where he can and trades anything the R2 dismisses from the ship. One day he sees some Empire guy with a few Stormtroopers asking to buy the farm of a family he's friends with. They refuse, and he gets a job from them. While returning from town, he sees black smoke and flames....

All but one member of the family are dead. The only survivor is badly hurt and he must rush the person to a hospital asap. If he can prevent the person dying, he'll find out who really destroyed the farm.

Just shared this on Google +1

BEGUN "THE GROWING SHADOW" HAS

The story begins nine years after Palpatine announced "the first galactic empire" and Padme lamented that liberty died "with thunderous applause".

Yesterday I typed up a bit of fiction. It's no Tom Clancy or Dan Abnett, and is written in what I like to call "Games Master" style, but it is the beginning of THE GROWING SHADOW. No dice were rolled. No action was involved. But it is nonetheless part of the story behind the campaign.

You can read it here:

I've changed the DIARY page so that it can stay focused on the events of the story and campaign. I might do a second page to deal with events before the story begins.

Coming next is the Empire Day speech. I'm thinking of rolling dice, with the governess doing an opposed leadership test. The result will then be translated into a percentage of support from the planet's population. So far she's got 83%

It'll be useful to know for when things really start to kick off.

Since the posts doubled, I've edited this one to have the link to the speech:

Dice roll was very favourable. I'm now convinced that, should the truth come out about the conspiracy there will be a global uprising in opposition to the Empire.

But I get ahead of myself.

Day two has started, and the first real gameplay has begun. I've chosen to play the prologue and I'm pleased I did. Things got a lot more interesting. So much so I've had to split it into two parts.

I've changed my signature to link you directly to the campaign diary page. Going to retire from posting about the campaign here as Google +1 is getting a better response.

See you around the forums and topics.

X-Wing is about to enter the campaign.

I'll be buying Armada in two weeks.

Between now and then I've got one piece of fiction and an Introduction to my character as he goes about an average day.

Then

Attack on Government Tower

U may not have had much response on here but I've just read your stuff & I think it's really good!! Kudos!!

Would definitely want to check this out but the links aren't working :(

I also, like the direction you were heading in. However, the links take me to a page that says your "blog has been removed." If you could update the link to your Google+ page, that would be great.
