Tournament this weekend....I need a forum based coin-flip for my list.

By MrChom, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Title says it all, and as I've become my club's resident S&V player (All while never having played BroBots) I thought I'd see what the forum thought. I'm looking at going to a local event in Reading and thought it might be worth some critique of my two possible lists

Okay, so, list number 1:

100 points Pilots
------
Kath Scarlet (55)
Firespray-31 (38), Predator (3), Ion Cannon (3), Proton Bombs (5), Gunner (5), Inertial Dampeners (1)
Guri (45)
StarViper (30), Veteran Instincts (1), Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6), Virago (1), Autothrusters (2), Fire-Control System (2), “Hot Shot” Blaster (3)
It's been doing pretty well, only lost with it once so far. Guri acts like a missile with wings hitting whatever Kath Ions turn 2/3 with the APT and a free focus. She then spends the rest of the game up close arc dodging and being a moving bullseye while Kath does the rest of the heavy lifting.
List 2
100 points
Pilots
------
Talonbane Cobra (38)
Kihraxz (28), Predator (3), Homing Missiles (5), Glitterstim (2)
Hired Gun (31) x 2
Y-Wing (20), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Extra Munitions (2), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Unhinged Astromech (1)
Only had 1 run out with this one, and it was before a tuning. If you have a big ship it's going to launch three missiles at you ASAP, and just see if it can make it be more dead. It was originally a warthog list but I'm increasingly wary of using the warthogs as I just don't feel that 2 die attack presents any kind of real threat for most ships in comparison to the threat of an ion turret

What is your local meta?

Not been out to Reading in months, but at the local club in Newbury there's a good mix of 2 ship builds, B-Wing spam, Z-95 spam, and lists based around a single strong TIE Defender or Phantom.

Fly what you are comfortable with. While I wouldn't touch that Kath/Guri list because of glaring inefficiencies, but that doesn't mean much if you are experienced flying it and have fun that way. If you are willing to make some changes drop some upgrades to include a Z-95 for a list that looks somewhat like this: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Scum%20and%20Villainy&d=v3!s!117:57,-1,137,21,-1,108:-1:-1:;101:56,-1:16:15:U.36,U.108;115:-1,-1:-1:-1:APTs, while flashy, are way too expensive even when they work, VI just doesn't benefit you much, since there are no popular aces at 5 or 6. The Ion Cannon is a bit pointless since it is you only ion source and you want a chunk of your list that big to do some damage.

VI just doesn't benefit you much, since there are no popular aces at 5 or 6.

Brobots?

VI also puts both ships at the same PS.

I would bring List #1, but try to shave some points off to get N'Dru Suhlak with Lone Wolf.

You appear to like a lot of upgrades, while I like ships more stripped-down. I think you need to find a way to get more HP on the field. My 2 cents.

VI just doesn't benefit you much, since there are no popular aces at 5 or 6.

I am ashamed! That is quite a major thing to miss.

In that case here is a list you could bring if you are willing to take the point-shaving to the max: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Scum%20and%20Villainy&d=v3!s!117:27,-1,-1,122,-1,108:-1:-1:;101:27,-1:16:15:U.36,U.108;138:-1,-1:-1:-1:

Firesprays are not capable of being fat ships, therefor you need to keep the point investment reasonable to have a super competetive list. This list has the benefit of lifting Kath up to PS9 where Soontir and his friends dwell. You will also find that K4 Security Droid is an amazingly effective crew upgrade.

Of course what I said in my first post still stands: If you are not comfortable with any changes we proposed then don't change things! The list you know well and like will always take you further - well in most cases - than a list you didn't touch befor. While what I gave you isn't radicaly differrent and I would say that you can do well with them if you managed to do well with the original list in the end it all comes down to your personal preference.
