Looking for PC's (EotE, AoR, FnD combined - Roll20)

By Afinati, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Are you looking for a new campaign? Are you willing to play online for a few hours a week? Are you good with having a somewhat inexperienced, yet enthusiastic GM who knows Star Wars? Don't move along.

Here's what's up:

  • Players of all experience and familiarity with Star Wars (both legacy and canon) are welcome. I have been an avid consumer of Star Wars content my whole life, but I have played campaigns with people more knowledgable than me and people who have never seen the films.
  • So far, I've got one player with an availability of Tuesdays, Saturdays, or Sundays. Sessions should last roughly three hours per week ... with some weeks off here and there. Hoping for a party of maybe ... 5? I don't know. No more than six should work out. We can convo about fine details more over Skype (I'm "annixoria") or email ([email protected]) if you prefer. If it works out and the ball gets rolling on a campaign and a PC drops out, latecomers to this thread are welcome to join up.
  • I'll be running Roll20 through Google Hangouts in order to take advantage of the Star Wars dice roller plugin. Of course, maps will largely be referential and low quality. Unless it strikes my fancy, the campaign will be without sound effects or soundtrack. Video broadcasting is not necessary or even preferred, but audio will be essential.
  • I have played one EotE campaign and one D&D5 campaign; I have GM'd one SIFRPG campaign and one EotE campaign. Basically, I'm a spring chicken. Be warned.
  • I have all three core rulebooks and am familiar with each. I intend to draw inspiration from their content, my knowledge of the period, and my own imagination (as long as the lattermost isn't in conflict with established lore). The setting will be right after the destruction of the first Death Star.
  • Obligation and Duty will be rolled for those PC's who have pertinent backstories, and Morality will be accounted for with all PC's. Strain, Wound Threshold, and Destiny Points will only change on account of Morality thresholds for those with a Force Rating. Story elements will affect particularly Light or Dark non-Force users as the galaxy reacts to their reputation and Force users react to their aura.
  • All careers, specializations, species, etc are welcome. Rules for character creation will be pretty standard (ie: standard xp, standard credits, etc).

Some nit-picking:

  • Failing a Fear check will only generate Conflict for a Force user who has been frightened by a Force-specific source ... whether a Force Ghost, Force Sensitive, Force Nexus, etc. A failed Fear check will otherwise generate Setback dice and whatnot for all PC's.
  • Characters, their backstories, and their personalities should be similar to the overall tones presented in major Star Wars stories. Darth Hufflepuff and a droid designation of H1N1 aren't gonna fly. Further, PC's can have major backstories on a regional level but not one of total galactic significance. They can't be Bail Organa's love child or Palpatine's latest secret apprentice or even an exiled Hutt Lord.

Well I have "joined" a game that was going to play on Tuesday's but that has not happened yet and has fallen dead. Here is the character I created for that game.

My only question is the play time on Tuesday. The wife is a RN, so if she works on the following day, I have to log off around 10pm CST, but on the days she doesn't work I can play later. As for roll20 and google hangouts, I give a big two thumbs up for that! I am a subscriber to roll20 since I fully support what they do.

I would like to play, if Saturdays are the commitment. If it has to be one of the other days, I probably can't. I'm currently running my own campaign on Sunday nights, where I'm the noob GM and half of my group is in their first campaign ever. I can make a character once I know if I'm on the team.

I'm interested, but the only day that I'll be able to make is Tuesday evenings.

Gotcha. Got a career or some career options in mind?

If I go Force User, I'd like to play a Seeker: Pathfinder. I'd probably focus on Strength, and Cunning with him and instead of a Lightsaber I think the Talisman of Ancient Fists looks fun. It seems like a fun class with a lot of different possibilities.

Non-Force, I'd probably lean towards the Colonist: Marshal with a focus on Presence and Willpower. Really though, I enjoy playing so many roles, that I'd be happy with most anything.

Do you have a problem with using fan generated races? I've been interested in playing a Defel, but it's not really a big deal either way.

I don't mind. I have the stats for a Defel from the menagerie.

I missed that you said Marshal. I only have the core rulebooks, so any specializations not listed there are alien to me. Can I find the Marshal talent tree in the EotE compiled resources thread?

The weekends are more of a family and friends type of thing. I run my game on Sunday's and the normal go from 1 to like 9pm. Good old 8 hours of running my game, but it happens about every other week so it works out. And once we move back to CT will either pick up my D&D game or my Dark Heresy game I ran for some other friends. I am afraid the weekends are out most likely.

The 7 to 10 CST or for you 8 to 11 EST would be fine for me. I am fine to start earlier if that time frame is to late for you a well.

I PM'd you a copy of the tree. I'm not sure if you can find it in the compiled resources thread or not.

Understood.

Okay, let me hear back from my original player and wait to see if any more potential PC's want to join. Right now I've got Thenger and Holzy for Tuesday evenings ... which should work out for my original player too.

I would be interested but my schedule is somewhat chaotic. if thats not a problem i 'll play.

Edit: tuesday evenings should work for me

I guess I should ask if this Tuesday is good, for character creation, and for those of us who did to pass it by the GM to make sure everything is cool. I am looking forward to this, to play a game.. Yay! :D

I will be traveling next Tuesday, but Tuesday, October 27th would be a good time to come together for a preparatory session at 7PM Eastern. I'll DM you the link to the hangout beforehand.

Sounds like a plan. Looking forward to play.

Afinati,

We you still planing on getting together tomorrow?

I'm interested. Tuesday is ok for me.

I'll be hosting on Roll20 at 7PM Eastern today. The link will be posted on this thread fifteen minutes before the event.

Group meeting and character creation will happen tonight.

I will be hosting our first introductory session in 10 minutes at this link:

It shouldn't last more than a half hour. I just need an idea of what you want to play, a confirmation that this is a good time for you to play, and I want to give the opportunity for everybody to meet everybody else.

I didn't see this thread until it was too late. Still have room?
