Im restricted by the cards I have and can borrow. I'm looking at two interceptors and a phantom, or three interceptors. My friend I tested with tonight killed me horribly with a scum tlt/feedback array build. So i need to make sure this is viable before I go. Any help is appreciated.

Need help for a tourny build - newer player - imperial
Halp?
If you are relatively new to the game, I would suggest not flying something so fragile. These are the sort of lists that depend on flawless flying. Make one mistake and you lose the game.
Also, always put push the limit on your high PS interceptors. Accept no substitutes...
Yeah, if you don't have the Push The Limit cards for your Interceptors, don't run them...
Just changed it. And I just started with imperial so I'm afriad thats what I have to fly.
I have three intereptors, 2 ties, 2 tie/fo, 1 tie adv, one phantom.
I really like the adv, phantoms and interceptors, but i dont have the title or atc for the advanced

Fear is the path to the dark side----let your emotions flow and you will do well ![]()
Seriously though, the Empire is a strong faction, but its hard on beginners because it punishes you more for mistakes. On the up side, it teaches you to be a better player as long as you are able to review a game objectively to see what you did wrong and how you can do better.
I would suggest flying your Fighters + Phantom as a starting point, since they are the most forgiving ships to fly. Well, the advanced would be a good choice too, but since you don't have the title, its not worth using it until you get it (or proxy it).
Example:
Whisper w/ Veteran Instincts, Recon Spec (or Rebel Captive), FCS & advanced cloak = 42
2 obsidian pilots = 13 x 2
2 zeta pilots = 16 x 2
100
Not sure if you have all the cards, but Whisper is powerful and somewhat flexible (meaning you can change up her build and she should still do alright). The reason for PS 3 is the assumption that you will face lots of twin laser turrets and/or PS 2 generic ships since these things seem to be more popular at the moment...
Fly the TIE fighters together in an offset box or pinwheel formation (if you are not sure about these, try googling them). Offset formation simply means that the two guys in the back row are not perfectly line up with the two guys in front (half a base is more than enough of an offset). The reason for this is to allow your ships to bank freely without bumping into each other. Don't be afraid to split them up neither---your ships do not need to be in formation, although it can be handy for focus firing against enemies with fewer ships than you.
I would put the zeta ships in front if facing heavy laser cannon(s). Otherwise, put them in the back. Focus is generally your go-to action, but take evade if you think your ships could take a beating (heavy lasers or lots of 3 attack dice ships during the first turn of fire). Use barrel roll to avoid firing arcs, to gain better positions around asteroids and to block enemy moves.
Whisper should hang out close but not too close to your other ships (or a bit behind). You want to keep all of her decloak options open as much as possible or else your opponent will predict where she's going and focus fire her down. When placing asteroids, think about where you want the fight to be and make sure you keep that area relatively open----whisper does not like getting clogged up in asteroids because they limit her decloaks, although you should be able to manoeuvre around 1 or 2.
Edited by blade_mercurialhmm. I didnt think of using tie fighters with the phantom. I tend to prefer echo over whisper due to her more unpredictable decloaks.
Ill construct another list like this. My friends list was particularly hard to face due to having feedback array on most of his ships as well. I did tie him with 2 academys, 2 basic FOs, basic interceptor and an advanced with missles. Would have won If I didnt misplay the adv

Whisper is stronger against lists that also have high pilot skill. Getting to PS9 can be crucial. You want to be able to shoot first so you can recloak with Advanced Cloaking Device before taking any return fire.
