New combos for wave 2

By kami689, in Star Wars: Armada

So, what sorts of new combos are you looking forward to using with wave 2? Looking at a lot of the new upgrades, there seems to be some really nice synergy between new and old.

Send a raider 2 in with overload pulse, then followup with an attack from an ISD with Avenger is going to be devastating.

Also another interesting combo I found is going to be on a VSD. Give the VSD the Dominator title and also give him an Engineering Captain. You can just keep feeding conc fire and nav commands, then if you think you will be taking a beating and need to get some of those shields back, no matter what you had queued up you can just change it to an engineering command!

So lets see what other interesting combos are going to be available in wave 2.

Raider Swarms maybe just have em all with Enhanced Armaments for S%Giggles. Pocket VSD.

That will definitely be interesting to see. Another thing you could do is Screed as commander, and then equip your raider swarm with Assault Proton Torpedoes. You can fit 6 raiders all with APTs and screed for 369 points, so you would still have 31 points to flavor to taste. So you could be looking at 12 face up damage cards per turn, assuming you can get 2 shots from each raider and get a crit on each attack.

Screed works only once per activation of the ship.

That's why I said 12 if you can get 2 shots and a crit on each attack ;)

Dominator vsd II with th redundant shields; burn a shield every turn and get it right back while using its ability.

I wanna use the NK-7 Ion Cannons with Screed too.

VSD II doesn't have the defensive retrofit slot.

Victory II, Warlord, Intel Officer, Sensor Team, Heavy Turbolaser Turrets

My idea here is to force the Defender into to using his brace only against the Heavy Turbolasers so my Intel Officer can discard it. Otherwise he doesn't brace any of the damage I do. My accuracy results are either used the take away redirect options or just converted to more damage.

Nebulon-B Support Refit, Salvation, Slaved Turrets, Tactical Expert. One more red die coming out the front of your favorite Neb. Concentrate fire when required with the Tactical expert and get 5.

MC80 with the Defiance title and Leading Shots will work pretty well in an Ackbar list.

6 red dice at long range, if the red dice turn up rubbish add a blue then burn it to re-roll the reds. If the reds are good you can add black dice instead. If the reds are good but lack accuracy fish for it with a blue.

And that's before you start adding turbolasers (H9s or Heavies against Brace, Enhanced for more red, etc)

Not cheap, but I do love a big handful of dice with rerolls.

(used in a Screed-fleet)

Raider 1 (44)

Expanded launchers (13)

Sensor team (5)

Total points: 62 points.

  • 4 black dice and 2 blue from the front arc is rather punchy.
  • Shenanigans = guaranteed accuracy from sensor team and guaranteed black crit/hit from Screed.
  • Multi use, as it is fast enough to rush for objectives, and good enough against both squadrons and ships to punch it's way though any minor interference.

A pretty cute combo involving the mc80 title independence + adar tallon makes for a deadly and mobile single squadron especially if that squadron has the keyword rouge.

Example:

  • Activate Han Solo with mc80 independence boosting his movement to 4 can't attack this activation.
  • Exhaust Adar to reset Han
  • Move to squadron phase reactivate Han using rouge move 3 and attack

With this Han essentially covers a range band of 7 in a direction and positions himself to attack and of course Han shoots first can attack the same target before any activation's the following round

Raider Swarms maybe just have em all with Enhanced Armaments for S%Giggles. Pocket VSD.

:(

Akbar on Home One trolling around with assault frigates or shrimp is PAINFUL

Absolutely murders everything in its path, including ISDs. You may come to fear those sides more than a star destroyer's front

Foresight + MM seems fun.

Raymus + shrimp promise to get along famously. Being able to nav twice on a 4 speed chart is awesome.

Boosted comms allows you to command disperate Silly Bombers, possibly allowing you to abuse grit. It's also great on broadside rebels that need to command on the run.

Ordnance Experts + assault torps may be the go to GSD loadout if you're not running Skreed

Impetuous with Ordnance experts is basically four damage against a squadron

this looks like fun haha

Also, if your Avenger is an ISD-2 and you're convident in being able to drop defense tokens either through OLP or just hammering the enemy, use SW-7

SW-7 guarantees 1 damage per blue die, aka 4 damage

between that and Avenger, you could land a guaranteed kill on a wounded enemy ship

Yep, already planning on that combo with an OLP raider. That with a Corrupter-based Rymer ball should be pretty formidable.

Here's one about objectives: I ran Precision Strike at the Sullust tournament and it didn't do that much for me when it was picked. You kind of have to sacrafice a bit to get the points if they aren't just incidental. So: Assault Proton Torpedoes on your Glads/Raiders with Screed gurantee 15points a shot and a lovely face-up card.

Of course, if the oppoenent runs a similar list, it won't help you as much.

ISD II Avenger + SW-7 + Needa + Turbolaser Reroute... ouch.

Turbolaser Reroute on a Salvation.

Turbolaser reroute on CR90 + Home One = 100% certainty on dice rolls.

If you overload pulse first and you're medium range then

Screed + Avenger + SW7 Ion + XX9 + Concentrate fire (extra blue) gives bare minimum 6 damage. As no ship can have more than 4 shields that is guaranteed 2 face up cards no matter how bad you roll.

(Your bare minimum is 5 blue of any result, and sacrifice one red with screed to get a crit on another). Two crits usually fluffs a ship so much it can't operate properly.

Max damage could completely remove a MC80 but I don't ever bet on max (not to mention advanced gunnery). The criteria for pulling this off doesn't need a combo of more than two ships at medium range and if they have 3 or less shield you don't need the concentrate fire meaning your stacked orders don't matter. (you could add a 'Tactical Expert' to guarantee that you can switch your order to concentrate fire).

Another easy to pull off combo is having gunnery teams on the Avenger and two Raiders pulling off pulses. something like this:

Screed Pulse

Screed

ISD II, Avenger, Gunnery Team, SW7 Ion, XX9,

Raider II, Overload Pulse

Raider II, Overload Pulse

280pts

Add in whatever after that. If you've pulsed ships i'd use Rogue bombers to attack the gap your ISD just made in their shields.

Turbolaser Reroute on a Salvation.

This is quite cool actually.

Nice combo! Will need to explore this one.
