When both players are up to speed and fluent with the rules, how long does an average game last?
Game length?
Depends on the players and the decks. Based on 1.0, though, the average is probably 30-45 minutes, or about 5 plots.
50 min I guess? This is the standard length for agot1e. Since so far in the second edition it is harder to come back, game length would be shorter.
Anyway you can always cut a game at any time and give whoever has more powers a "conditional win".
Edited by andrewaaIn first edition tournament play, rounds are 50-60 minutes, and games rarely go to time. Melee games are longer (in tournaments, 1.5 hrs).
Whether this will hold true for second edition isn't clear, but it's a reasonable set of estimates.
In my experience so far (with online play), Thrones 2.0 matches tend to last ~45 minutes, in keeping with the 1st edition - and I expect them to play out faster in person than online.
OK thanks guys - I'm thinking of picking at least 1 core set, but I'd heard from other sources that games ran around 60-90 minutes which is too long for a card game, for me. But if it's more like 30-45 then that's great.
We played a "Kingslayer" tournament last night. With the randomness of the deck building rules of one core box due to not having multiples of many cards; out of my 4 games, one ended early, two went to time, and the fourth we just played it out because it was at the end. The last game took an hour and a half, and we went through 12 plots. We all had tons of fun!
I just assume that with proper decks that the game will speed up quite a bit.
EDIT: oh, and I think the last game took a bit because my opponent had just picked up the core set a few minutes before the start of the tournament and he needed time to read cards before he played them (and read mine when I played them).
