So with everyone going bonkers over BB-8+Push the Limit shenanigans, I got to thinking- Is there any other times PTL triggers where stress can be cleared the round it triggers?

Well, I believe I've found it. And it's pretty epic.

Here's the build

Guri (30)

Virago(1)

Push the Limit (3)

Fire Control System (2)

Cloaking Device (2)

Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

Total: 40

The idea is this-

1- decloak

2- trigger stygium for evade

3- trigger PTL off of the evade, boost or barrel roll, gain stress

4- clear stress w/ green maneuver for activation

5- boost or barrel roll for action

6- gain focus at beginning of combat from ability

7- gain target lock from FCS after shot

Now obviously, the combo is unreliable as you have to worry about the cloaking device dropping before it even does anything for you, but the fact that this is even possible is awesome.

Seems solid.

Only issue is 25% chance to lose Cloaking Device at the end of the previous turn, and you'll have to be cloaked the entire turn and lose damage (unless there's a way to get a PS6 Scum ship with an auto-action during the Combat phase that you can EI into Squad Leader with) nvm that still doesn't let her shoot, and no Decoy/ST/Torkil combo I can think of can temporarily drop her PS late in the combat phase.

I was almost going to contradict you and say that Stygium Particle Accelerator was Phantom only, but it looks like it's it is actually allowed on any ship. Intriguing!

Not sure I'm catching what you're getting at with EI + squad leader. Decloak isn't an action, so you wouldn't be able to use Squad leader to decloak a ship..? Sorry if I'm just totally missing what you're getting at.

As far as the criticism goes, you'll want the turn you cloak to be before engagements even start, so you're not losing out on shots. But agreed the fact that this is only possible 75% of the time is definitely where it falls short.

Assuming the cloak turn is really early, then yeah, neatly sidestepped. Too bad they don't have Palpatine.

As well as instead of 2 points you lose 4 when the cloak fizzles, since SPA will be useless.

The SPA does let her use Juke, which otherwise she cannot trigger, which presents a rather interesting combo (particularly if you also have Sensor Jammer as well). It is up against Autothrusters unfortunately...

Interesting idea. Would be fun to fly Airen Cracken with Decoy alongside a Sigma.

That's it. The loss of the S-Loop and one hard turn is too great and being PS5, you cannot be certain you will finish in range 1 of an enemy like Dash or an IG.

Agreed this is another issue. PTL works best with ships with green turns, and the viper wasn't let in to that exclusive cool kids club.

really, after flying a Guri+Xizor list for the past week or so, PtL, on Guri at least, works pretty well.

A lot of it is strategic - I've consistently been able to get her into a tailing position, and the build I use has AdvS, so I spend a LOT of time pulling 1-speed stuff and making up for the gap with boost/BR before the maneuver.

Poe has two low cost Astromechs that make PTL a strong choice for him. R2 makes him a heavy interceptor trading barrel-roll and a point of agility for 3 shields. BB-8 is going to have him doing greens before his maneuver to get a barrel-roll, PTL takes advantage of greens that he's already going to be doing (similar to putting PTL on Corran when he's got R2-D2). It also allows him to get a Soontir Fel level of action economy and ensures that he can always get the crucial focus token needed to fuel his ability even if he bumps.

Guri on the other hand needs to spend 4 points to get Advanced Sensors for a less efficient, but more flexible, version of what BB-8 gives to Poe.

PS5 is a huge issue.

Autothrusters will be more reliable in most matchups than Stygium will be (especially considering the explosive cloak

I'd take the cloak but leave thrusters on. I'd probably also go with a different EPT, honestly. One of the strengths of Phantoms is in the decloak+hard 1 maneuver. It sets you up for so many beautiful shots or a solid block.

If taking FCS, I don't think I'd take Predator or Lone Wolf. In fact, I might consider taking a different system (almost definitely adv. sensors but maybe sensor jammer) and Lone Wolf as EPTs and setup the rest of my squad to take long range shots while Guri gets personal (especially against turrets).

It is indeed an awesome build for friendly games, and I for one can't wait to try it out if for nothing else than to see my opponents reaction when Guri decloaks, performs a boost and barrel roll, and ends with an evade, focus, and target lock all for the cost of 0 stress.

I think for a lot of us the shine had already worn off of Guri+PTL+SCA+Cloak back when FFG announced Wave 8. A bunch of us got all excited about it and then had our dreams crushed when we realized exactly how the failure of the cloaking device actually worked.

You're right though, it is a cool interaction and the OP should be excited about how cool it is if only so he can also have his dreams crushed like the rest of us poor bastards =).
