Finished it this morning, pretty happy with how it came out. Not as much black detailing as my
Decimator but I didn't want to over do it.
I have 2 Defenders going red as well.

I did not, I've gotten away with not having to disassemble any of FFG's models before I paint them and I had no problems getting the red primer behind the wings.

The emporor's finest are defenders. I could kill a raider with them.

Which is why he has two red defenders in the works as well. As for the name, that was a joke he and I came up with. It was that or the raider popsicle.

I use The Army Painter's Dragon Red Primer for pretty much everything, so that is the primary color you see (obviously). A few coats of that primer, then I just use some Citadel paints because I also paint (and occasionally play) Daemons from GW. Abaddon Black, Leadbelcher, Mephiston Red and I wash it all down with copious amounts of Nuln Oil.

It's great really, with the same 3-4 colors, you get two vastly different armies and they look friggin awesome!

I knew that shade looked familiar. I play/collect Blood Angels and paint them similarly, definitely using Mephiston red.
Seeing these sexy red ships is making me want to redo my Imperial collection....hey, at least I already have the paints right?
