I'm extremely bad and impatient when it comes to painting and i messed up a couple of my models, how do i get rid of the complete paint in a way so i don't have to rebuy new models ? I'm willing to give it another try but i'm completely unaware of any methods that don't damage the models, yet strip them from any colour. Did someone already do this ?
How do you strip the Armada Models from paint ?
The best bet is fairy power spray if you're the UK. It may strip the original paint job though. Avoid anything like nail varnish remover, that will melt your miniatures.
My go-to for model stripping is Simple Green or as Plant mentioned, Fairy Power Spray in the U.K. It's non toxic and smells sorta minty. Just leave the models to soak (Overnight, even a day or two, what have you. I've had that stuff evaporate before it did anything to typical hard plastic)) and you should be able to strip it using a simple toothbrush and a wooden toothpick for the really small detail areas.
Don't use anything harsh like brake fluid, anything with acetone (nail polish remover, paint thinner), etc. It will eat the models away, I know from experience -sighs- paaainful painful experience.
Post Scriptum: I should note that if you're stripping these models, you'll be left with the same coloured panels as was on the model. It will just look more distinct as the cleaner takes FFG's dark wash off (at least, it has in the test model I worked with). Sometimes there is a modicum of surface staining from before, depending on what you used to paint the models. For a bit of an additional assurance before you paint or prime your models, wash them in warm soapy water and let them air dry completely. It gets rid of any oils from your fingers or cleaning by products (Usually it's done for more common tabletop wargaming plastic miniatures to make sure they're clean from any chemical mould release agents that is used in manufacturing. FFG's doesn't have it, or their hand wash stuff would be quite a bit worse for it. It's more about making sure there's nothing left from the cleaning solution or congealed paint).
Edited by VykesSimple Green is recommended by most of the guys in the US.
Try putting them in warm soapy water?
For me, I'll just layer black primer over it
I use Dettol on my plastic 40k guys and its perfect
if you can get a hold of it Testors ELO (EASY LIFT OFF) is the best of the best. It's designed to remove paint from plastic models without doing any damage to the plastic. The best part is that it only takes a few minutes to work. No waiting overnight. You brush it on, and when the paint looks like orange peel you brush it off with warm water and an old tooth brush.

This stuff is rediculously good for plastic models.
To be fair, the FFG prepainted stuff looks thin so i just prime right over the models as is and repaint them. The only thing ive painted is my Imp squadrons and my Imperial Ships. I start my ISD tonight.
Thank you very very very much to all of you! that's great advice all around!
Put some Berry White on in the background to get them in the mood. A long bath in simple green & they cant wait to be stripped. ![]()
