Auto dmg for imp no love for rebels

By mobow213, in Star Wars: Armada

Notice the imps seem to get alot of auto dmg effects. Between fett mines, to mithly run into you or the named interceptor cause dmg when your force to shoot the escort.

So will the rebel ever get some auto dmg. Like maybe let ace emonan from the xwing game and his yt-2000 cause auto dmg like fett in a eave three group or porkins in a xwing act like mithly.

This seems to be a fairly imperial trait. Definitely the case when it comes to squadrons doing auto-damage (Boba, Fel, Mauler) or extremely heavy damage (IG-88, Bossk, Vader, Interceptors enhanced by Dengar and Howlrunner...). But don't forget Screed for ship damage, who virtually guarantees +2 damage with ACMs, or a face-up damage card with APTs (unless your ship successfully uses a Mon Mothma-enhanced evade to get a fortunate reroll).

On that note, imperials also have the upper hand when it comes to offensive dice manipulation, too (Swarm rerolls, Commander Vader, Warlord, and of course Screed). Rebels seem to have the bulk of the defensive-oriented modifications (Mon Mothma, defensive retrofit/support team slots), though Home One offers some nice offensive dice modification (albeit only to other friendly ships and not itself), and we're starting to see more generic dice modifiers (H-9s, Ordnance Experts) to help level the playing field.

well now rebels have ruthless strategist, which with 10pt ywings with 6 hull should be nice vs them squishy 3 hull ties

Oh, yes! I look forward to my opponents using this on me.

Rebels are packed with offensive mods, they're just in the titles

Paragon is disgusting

Salvation is disgusting

Yavaris will out damage everything in Wave 1 with a mere two B-wings

and now Defiance is disgusting and Home One, in the proper build, is ludicrous

now guaranteed damage is another matter, but given almot all imperial sources are squadrons it's not too huge a deal. I know, however, that I don't fly wedge because his lack of re-rolls makes those six dice occasionally less impressive than they should be...

oh, but we forgot Dutch (if an enemy he shot at has already activated and he deals damage, he gets an additional damage automatically; if the enemy has not activated and he deals damage then he robs the enemy's activation)

Defensive upgrades are an interesting line of thought, especially considering Ms Gallant Haven

Rebels generally don't get automatic damage, but they do have several ways to just ignore shields, like Luke Skywalker and Dodonna's Pride.

New here,

But why hasn't anyone said anything about the ISD's auto-damage combo? (ISD I (or II, I does more damage though), Screed, Overload Pulse, Avenger title).

Overload pulse takes effect after they use their damage mitigation, if I remember correctly. So it really works better if you hit it with a Raider and then later that round use Avenger to punish them.

You are right.

1. Build / Modify / Roll Attack Pool

2. Defender spends Defense Tokens

3. Attacker Declares and uses Critical Effect.

4. Apply damage.

Here is the complete and more accurate version: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/181567-do-you-have-questions-about-attacking-defense-tokens-and-critical-hits-read-this-first/

It takes 2 separate shots for Overload and Avenger to work. Ideally you will want OP on a Victory or Raider and a follow up shot with SW7 + Avenger on an Imp 2.

The OP is correct.

The Rebellion is doomed. FFG is balancing things in favor of the Empire because they hate the Rebels.

You should give up on this game while you're still ahead. I hear that Parcheesi is still balanced, and you might lose because of your own choices, rather than because the game is stacked against you. :P

Hey! Wait up!

When you did you start playing Rebels?:ph34r:

Don't even joke about that...

Haha!, allow me to introduce you to my new bomber carrier:

Assault Frigate 2A

+ Gallant Haven

+ Raymus Antilles

+ Ruthless strategists

+ Expanded hangar bay

+ ECM

(112 points)

Accompanied by:

Nym

2x Y-wings

HWK-290

(53 points)

Why is it so nasty?

  • The AF has 2 blue anti-squadron dice. After attacking, I can use ruthless strategists to deal an extra point of damage to enemies.
  • If my bombers are next to the carrier (they always will be unless I chose otherwise, due to intel), I can dial back that damage using Gallant Haven
  • Nym. Boss of trolls.

I don't think Gallant Haven reduces damage caused by Ruthless Strategists.

Thanks. I didn't care to look up whether the damage inflicted by Ruthless Strategists was an "attack" or not, but I pretty confidently guessed that it probably wasn't.

Could you please explain why not?

Gallant Haven reduces damage from attacks. It does not reduce damage from sources that aren't attacks. It reduces damage from Counter, for example, but not from Fel's, Mithel's, or Fett's special "auto damage" abilities. Or from Ruthless Strategists.

And you have to deal the damage to do the damage.

I think the ruthless strategist would be kinda pissed at Gallant Haven for #### blocking him all the time.
