Massing at Sullist time schedule seemed restrictive

By Hrathen, in Star Wars: Armada

The weekend of the Massing of Sullist tournament has just ended and it was the first pre-release tournament since Kessel Run that I had to miss. :(

Maybe they have all been like this (the x-wing tournaments anyway since this is the first pre-release tournament for Armada) But I felt like the time table for when the stores were allowed to run the tournament seemed really short.

In my area I think 3 stores were running the tournament, One ran is Friday, which would have been fine except that it started at noon. An Armada Trournament is not something I am will to get work off for.

Then their were two tournaments on Saturday. Which happened at the same time. So people had to pick which one to go to. One store was so disappointed by the turn out that they basically decided to drop Armada as a game they were going to have OP events for. Not only did it cost them all the money to get the tournament kit (I have no idea how much it costs) but they had to postpone their usual Saturday MTG crowed with is this (if not all game stores) bread and butter.

I couldn't go on Saturday because my religion had their World Wide General Conference. I don't expect FFG to care about my that conference, but what it meant was that if I had one Saturday tied up by something more important than playing a game with my toys (Don't get me wrong I love playing games with my toys, it just isn't the most important thing in my life) then I couldn't participate.

The problem is that Armada takes twice as long to play as X-wing. So Saturday is really the only day you can do the tournaments. And only letting the tournament go over a three day period meant that it was for all intents and purposes a 1 day tournament. Most people work an Friday (at noon), most of our game stores are closed on Sunday. (A lot of all players won't play on Sunday as well.)

I think if FFG game a bigger window to play the game, give us like two weeks.

Kessel run and imdaar alpha were same restrictions. We had ours on Sunday to avoid conflict with new mtg set release.
