Modifier card(s) for mines

By IG88E, in X-Wing

Why there is for example no modification card to modify mines? I think this would make them bit more reliable and therefore useful

For example:

Mine controller

Modification, 1 or 0 point(s)

"When you are in range 1-3 of an exploding mine, you can reroll one of the attack dice."

Maybe also interesting as a pilot skill

Thoughts?

Well right now mines do a good job at what they do with the exception of cluster mines. Those things are awful.

However the good news about cluster mines is that their detonation is an FAQ rules and not printed on the card. So to buff cluster mines would be really simple as it could be changed in the next FAQ without having to modify or clarify wording on the physical upgrade card.

Roll 2 dice and immediately modify all <critical hits> to <hits> Ship suffers damage equal to number of hits rolled.

Mines are also meant, I suppose, to be psychological in nature. Do you feel lucky enough to drive your almost-destroyed ship onto them? Or do you play it safe, just in case, and go around them?

Slugrage has it to the point right there.. it's good for board control.. and does so awesomely.. unless you fly in my area where there are a couple of us that use stuff like that for our own purposes.. lol.. we fly through them and take what comes, then shoot you down after haha.. Asteroids.. what asteroid.. hahah

Bring on ...

Minesweeper [system]: When your ship or template crosses a mine token, the mine detonates but causes no damage to your ship.

So FFG just finally finds a way to encourage folks to use bombs/mines/etc. with Extra Munitions, and already some are trying to get them removed from the map?

Derp?

Bring on ...Minesweeper [system]: When your ship or template crosses a mine token, the mine detonates but causes no damage to your ship.

Dead card in most matchups, I'm afraid.
