Is this moralo build too much?

By slimeball, in X-Wing Squad Lists

50 points seems a lot, but I like this build, you stand on front you get hit by a four dice focus+TL attack, you try to chase it, I slam on the brakes and you take 2 almost garanteed damage.

YV-666

Moralo

Heavy laser cannon

K4 security droid

Outlaw tech

Feedback array

Anti-pursuit lasers

Good point of reference:

If you could replace moralo with a tooled out aggressor, you probably would

Cheaper's DEFINETLY the way to go

Don't think you need any More than k4 and HLC

I kind of fancy using the YV-666 over the aggressor though, so you would suggest slimming him down then?

I'm about to try this

Moralo

HLC

Tactical Jammer

Kavil

TLT

Wingman

The idea being Kavil bumps and hides behind Moralo. Maralo stays put when he wants to and lays down the law.

50 points is a lot. It would be a beast in more of a casual setting. Looking at a serious tournament setting I agree with FGD that I would probably rather have an Aggressor. However I like my M. Eval flavored a little differently...

Moralo Eval (46) YV-666 (34), Ion Cannon (3), Bossk (2), Gunner (5), Tactician (2)

I got to play this in a team epic game yesterday and it worked out surprisingly well. There were enough distractions and tempting targets besides Moralo that he got to roam free (especially after I locked down a fully loaded Redline that had his number).

You can Ion attack a 180 arc of ships and if you hit you get damage and control through ion (and possibly tactician stress). If you miss, you get a fully modified primary weapon shot that can double stress at range two.

It was really FUN to fly. In a standard game, he is probably going to be the primary target though. So, if you are loading up your ship beyond 40 points, I would make the rest of your list full of tempting and powerful targets to make the choice hard for your opponent.

Moralo is good times but he just disintegrates so fast (YV problem in general, which is why I completely agree with the "super shuttle" nickname haha). I'm a big fan of Eval with the HLC and K4, and I'm partial to the Outlaw Tech for flexibility but that's still 46. If you've got another point after that, Greedo can be a lot of fun too!

At the moment I can't bring myself to recommend any other cannons on Eval. Mangler seems like a solid budget option but you're already at 3 ATK and even with the bonus crit and Range 3 effectiveness, you really should fit in those extra three points for the HLC. 180° of ion is pretty solid if you've got some more ion in your list, like a pair of ion Scyks or Ion + BTL-A4 Y-Wings, but like anything you're going to want at least two in a list to really bring that control to bear. And with the YV dial and potential, I think straight damage is going to offer more consistent results (nevermind the K4 providing consistent TL+F attacks).

Side note, it is hilarious to watch a YV and two TLTs just annihilate each other. They're quite well balanced and similarly costed. Four TLTs will just roll over your YV though, so plan your accompaniment accordingly!

Could this work?

Moralo Eval (34)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
K4 Security Droid (3)

Cartel Marauder (20)
Glitterstim (2)

Cartel Marauder (20)
Glitterstim (2)

Binayre Pirate (12)

Total: 100

I am going to try our a slimmed Down version or moralo.

One quick question, does the free target lock from the security droid double up if you have a weapons engineer? Would make lattz into a great debut bot

Sure does. GREAT idea Slimeball !

I am about to go up against arc dodging A-wings with AT. Was tossing up Moralo with HLC or Lattz with K4. I think your post has swung the favour to Lattz
