Our Massing at Sullust Final

By Edsel62, in Star Wars: Armada

This will be done as a series of posts, instead of one big post, because Photobucket, Windows 10 and the Internet are being cantankerous right now.

Top of Turn 2

The fleets exchange little fire as they maneuver toward each other.

Top of Turn 3

Now the turbolaser fire is starting to heat up as squadrons also start to entangle near the top of the picture.

Top of Turn 4

It becomes a vicious close quarters melee. I was surprised how well the MC80 stood up under the fire of the Imperial ships.

Somewhere in the middle of all of this Han Solo and Luke Skywalker died, but so did Darth Vader. Wedge Antilles and Dengar would survive the battle.

You will note that the MC80 managed to get the VSD in his port side arc (barely) and the ISD in his starboard side arc.

Top of turn 5 (final turn)

During turn 4, in rapid succession the MC80 killed the Imperial Star Destroyer, the MC30c killed the Imperial Raider, and then the Victory Star Destroyer and a couple of TIE Bombers dispatched the MC80.

During Turn 5 the VSD and TIE Bombers prevailed and destroyed the MC30c. Rebels were tabled so it ended in an Imperial victory. The VSD had 4 hull remaining and its shields were in shambles so its a real good possibility that the Y-Wings and X-Wing off her starboard bow would have finished her off.

Nice, are squadron heavy lists normal in your area?

Most of the players included at least some squadrons. In the 3 Swiss rounds the winner was a Squadron heavy Imperial build. You can see the top four finishing fleets at the miniranker website here.

Our top winner was also a double Victory list with 8 squadrons.

I got 1st place at my event with the following Squadrons heavy build, but admittedly I did a meta call and only played squad heavy builds:

+++ VG F Screed (293pts) +++

++ Imperial Navy (Standard) (293pts) ++

+ Gladiator Star Destroyer (107pts) +

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (107pts) [Assault Concussion Missiles (7pts), Engine Techs (8pts), •Admiral Screed (26pts), •Demolisher (10pts)]
