With this build Defiance at medium range with a CF command can be 2 blue, 2 black, 7 red.

I still have 5 points to play with and I think the fighter list can be tweaked a lot, I might cut a squad or two for AP on the ships for more survivability. I also might put Ackbar on one of the frigates to spread the points around. Not sure slaved turrets will be worth it but with this list I am not planning on an Ackbar slash. I think this list will eat glads for breakfast and pretty much kill any small base ship in the first salvo. I am starting to understand why there are no gunnery teams on MC80 because with Ackbar it would be broken.

So with slaved turrets, do you permanently loose 1 attack, or only when you want to add the extra dice

Using upgrade cards is always optional.

using upgrade cards are not always optional, that's why the keyword "may" exists

You cannot attack more than once per round is permanent and compulsory

Adding the red die is also compulsory

if you slap Slaved Turrets onto your ships, it can't ever attack more than once per round

Something like H9 turbolasers "while attacking, you may change a dice with a hit or crit icon to a face with an acc icon" is optional

or, more to the point, Akbar's "Before a friendly ship's Attack Step, it may choose to attack from only its left and right hull zones this round. If it does, it may add 2 red dice to its attack pool while attacking a ship" is optional

Slaved turrets have a huge drawback in order to account for the fact that they're a better-than-enhanced armaments (work out of any hullzone and almost half price)

Yeah, with slaved turrets you can only make one attack per turn period. I ran a test game with them on the MC80 and I think I might swap it out for XI7's or even enhanced armaments. Especially on Defiance one red die is such a drop in the bucket it probably isn't worth the potential lost attack even if it is the two blue against squads.

I think Slaved Turrets is still a good upgrade and I might start taking them on my Nebulons. If I am flying those right I only get one attack anyway.

Besides that though holy crap, Defiance two shot a Motti VSD. I am going to have to start taking Advanced Gunnery with this list which is even more reason to dump the Slaved Turrets. I thought about H9s but with so many red dice you almost always get an accuracy. Bye bye brace.

I think I will also cash in the B-Wings and possibly the X-Wing for more A-Wings. The ships themselves deal so much damage to other ships I just need to keep other fighters off of them. In the off chance my opponent brings no fighters A-wings are still decent against ships.

I will say, playing Paragon with H9s gave me a lot of respect for an upgrade I initially overlooked

**** things saved my bacon after I lost Yavaris to a VSD. First shot to the side did a measly point of damage on a damaged Demolisher, redirected to the butt because the front had been chipped away by some Bs and Neb fire.

Paragon with CF dial then tallied up six hits and I was debating gambling for an acc with the Conc. Fire token when I realized...I dropped 8 points on these stupid things! Bam down goes the brace and, with no shields to redirect to, down goes the Demolisher :)

also great for pinging off evades at long range when canceling a double hit would reduce your 3 damage to 1 (whereas brace would leave it at 2), and for acting as sort of X-17s if you only need to punch the last one or two damage into the hull of a dying ship

love me some h9s :D

Yeah I am torn. With the Defiance/Ackbar combo your chances of getting an accuracy are really high. You only really need one because in a lot of ways XI7 is better than a second accuracy because so many ships have two redirects. One shield redirected doesn't matter that much if you are dealing 8, 9, 10 damage.
