Scum huge ship idea

By Gajavi, in X-Wing

One ship I would love to see as the Scum & Villainy combat huge ship would be the Crusader-class Corvette. They were a significant part of the Zann Consortium fleet from Empire at War: Forces of Corruption.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Crusader-class_corvette

They could be similar to the CR-90 Corellian Corvette with a strong broadside and no 1-straight. An upgrade could be a Point-defense System as a huge ship anti-missile/torpedo thing. Some characters they could have as new crew might be Prince Xizor, Jabba the Hutt and Tyber Zann.

I like the Crusader, and if you like EaW ships you should read my EaW post: it's got em' all. https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/190409-empire-at-war-ships-will-we-see-them-in-x-wing/?hl=empire

However, I have found the new scum huge ship. This is what I want.

XX-777.jpg

This is also the Crusader. The Crusader XX-777 prototype droid frigate; not out of Mandal Hypernautics, but brought to you by NerfWorks, a subdivision of our very own and much-loved Corellian Engineering Corporation. (Creators of the YT-1600, YT-2400, and YV-666.)

The XX-777 is a prototype droid starship. No crew, no problem. It has room for passengers onboard as well as cargo. 120 meters, the raider and CR-90 being both 150 metres, it would be perfect. Except.

The problem with it being a terrifying Scum and Villainy supersized IG-88 is that it was programmed with a three laws system.

1. Protect the innocent. (Says nothing about the guilty though.)
2. Obey any order that does not violate the previous protocol. (Won't take orders from pirates.)
3. Preserve its own safety as long as that did not violate the first two protocols. (It will find ways to self-repair.)
Guess what happened. Yep, the designers loved it, and tried to disassemble the prototype so they could figure out mass-production. It got a whiff of their plan, and one day it just hyperdrove away and now roams the outer rim protecting the innocent like a 120 meter-long robot Superman.
So in short the only reason it couldn't be S&V is because the original is an anonymous cybernetic pirate-killer.

Yep.

WHAT ARE THOSE?!?!?!?!?!?

I think it will either be the Star Jewel

Or the Wild Karde

Those I think will be most likely to be a Scum huge ship.

Until then well I do have my conversion kit for the GR-75 now in PDF format. You can find it in the link in my signature.

Star Jewel/Dragon Pearl is probably a shoe-in given you've already got Dark Forces/Jedi Knight characters in the game (then again Jade and Karrde were introduced in the same book) especially because of the inevitable Jabba crew. It's also roughly the same size as the Raider/CR-90 without going to a relative scale vs. the Action VI which is about 3/4 the size. The Karrde might be ok for the Scum support ship though it's got the same problem going the other way vs. the transport.

Edit: The Gozanti is scaled to the TIEs so the "relative scale" of the huge ships is probably out the window at this point.

Yep. Star Jewel and Wild Karde.

Edit: The Gozanti is scale to the TIEs so the "relative scale" of the huge ships is probably out the window at this point.

The reason the Gozanti isn't relative scale is because it is so small and in order to get the TIEs to look right when you attach them to the model. That doesn't stop other ships from having a relative scale.

Although it's ugly, I want the Wild Karde or Pulsar Skate to be the Scum Huge.

Plus a two-crew Jabba the Hutt card.

The Hutts have much cooler ships to use than the Jewel. . .

Yep.

In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it is an emotional response. No. Not vengeance. Punishment.

No, it doesn't, but it does mean that that they're willing to chuck relative scale if it's convenient. In the case of the Action VI it would be convenient.

These are awesome, these or the Wild Karde!

you can save those for Armada.

I have looked at your EaW topic, my first few posts were actually in that page and I agree that more of the ships should make an appearance (especially the point of the TIE Scout having a HWK-290 like support role).

I really like the sound of the story behind XX-777 and will look it up for more info. But as you said, there's not really any reason for it to join Scum. The Star Jewel and Wild Karde at first I was very iffy about, but after reading what was posted here I wouldn't object about seeing it in X-Wing. And I agree with Marinealver that whose big Hutt ships look like they would be more fitting in Armada.

Some acts are legal but not moral while some acts are moral but not legal.

Wait, your first few posts were in my EaW topic?

I'm kinda honored. And I enjoyed your advocacy of the TIE scout in the face of it's many naysayers; that discussion was actually the first time I had seen mention of it having a civilian version. :)

Well, to be strictly honest, this thread was my first posting the the EaW one was my second. But the EaW post showed up first and this thread was unviewed for a little while. I'm not sure why there was such strong opposition for the TIE Scout since it has a unique enough look to be easily spotted from other ships (good luck differentiating from TIE Fighter and TIE/fo when people repaint them) and it fills a support role that Empire could really use outside the Shuttle.

That Wild Karde is horrible ugly but it does have a nice carry handle.

1) it's too smooth, I feel it would look kinda boring as a model. 2) It doesn't look like a frontline capable warship, I feel it would look silly next to the raider and the cr90.

My only worry about the Star Jewel is that it might be too wide, but then again FFG made K-Wings....

The Wild Karde looks like a big freighter to me, that's probably why it was designed to look like a big purse. :P

Honestly, I just want them to design something new again, at this point. I don't like any of these ships but the Crusader and I REALLY WOULD rather NOT have The Zann Consortium in XWMG, if I could help it- even if it would be a pretty ace nod.

They made the Raider from scratch because the Empire didn't have a lot of Corvette sized ships to draw from aside from the Tartin Cruiser, which I'm glad they didn't go with as the Raider has the iconic Star Destroyer shape and is simply more awesome. Scum on the other hand do have a larger pool of Corvettes to pull from, so another from the ground up new ship isn't necessary for them.

I do hate to admit that you're absolutely right, but you're absolutely right.
