So I'm curious do any of you guys think the engine upgrade is worth it on a z-95. I feel like it should help with its mobility.
Z-95 with EU
It's really hard to justify increasing the cost of a Z-95 by 33% just for boost.
Instead of 16 points for a Z with EU, spend 15 for an A-Wing with Chaardan.
As mentioned EU is costed at 4 points for the advantage ti gives large base ships. So for large ships like Shuttles or YV-666 the 4 points are well worth it.
For small ships the only one it could be justified on is Vader because of Vader's pilot ability. Everything else it becomes a point sink.
Way too expensive on a 12 point ship. Only thing that should go on Z-95s is ordnance.
It is hilarious though.
What about unique Z-95 pilots? Might find use there....
might be interesting on a Tala as a counter to PS2 TLT spammers - boost into the croissant and shoot first - but a Green Squadron A-Wing does the same job better for the same cost
I think that the only way when this could work is outside tournament play. If you design a scenario you can balance things. Example.
A local security force field two old but reliable Zs field modified. And the EU cost only 2 pts, because you use your head when you write the escenario, not only your calculator.

The only upgrade that makes sense on generic Z-95s is feedback array.
Oh hell no those things die so fast your just handing points to your opponent.

For one less point than an Engine Upgraded Z-95 you can get an A-wing with inbuilt Boost, Evade, +1 Agility and a vastly better dial.
If you feel you need Engine Upgrade on Zs, get A-wings.
Oh hell no those things die so fast your just handing points to your opponent.
And you also just deleted Soontir Fel without rolling a single die.

Your comparing apples to oranges, fully loaded fel is incredibly hard to kill with three actions a turn he can arc dodge or turtle behind tokens and soak more damage than his three hit points suggest.
Headhunters don't use PTL well, can't arc dodge and have poor defence if your using boost from EU your not using focus making the odds of stopping any damage low.
Z-95's are good because they are cheap when you whack on EU they lose that points efficiency.

Feedback Array is direct damage. If you block him and get three Feedback Zs in range, splat. No more Fel.

Indeed- hit points on ships have different levels of value. Soontir Fel's HP is worth far more than a Binayre Pirate's. You won't use Feedback array every game, but it will come in handy in many situations.

And if you use two advanced homing missiles on a headhunter it goes splat.
There are ways to bypass any ships defence that doesn't change the fact fels harder to kill than a headhunter with EU.

I think y'all are talking past each other. Blue and I thought you said Feedback array isn't worth it on Z-95s.
Nope talking about EU on the headhunter from the first post.
Z95 + EU = behold! sh*tty Awing!

Not really. I mean, sure maybe you'll end up using that boost at some point but was it worth 4 points? Not likely. EU has lots of uses but a Z-95 that can boost still only has two attack dice, two agility, and four health. Giving it boost doesn't really help it perform any of its functions better.
Aside from Vader and Corran I don't see a lot of small ships that can really justify the 4 points. Most of the ones that could already have boost.
The only named Z-95 who might possibly benefit from it is N'dru, and I think Ndru is at his best when he's not THAT expensive.
Ndru just wants lone wolf anything more he's too juicy a target when you want him ignored while he flanks.
