Possibly, but I doubt it. Every page in a supplement is precious. Using some of them for a xenos race that isn't present in the Expanse seems unlikely. Those pages could instead be spent on another race, or used to add more details for another race.

This is a campaign for the combined 3 RPGs (DH, RT and DW) I would love to see released just prior to the FFG license expiring. A large 150 page adventure the details the final hours of Calixis!

It's unlikely, but the Tau do represent a tech-using nation that is completely unlike the Imperium and a interesting number of RP possiblties. That being said, you're right in the sense that the space could be better spent on developing those... maggot men dudes who's name suddenly slipped my mind.
What if the 13th tribe of the Tau set up shop in the Koronus Expanse and someday a rag-tag fleet of Tau, fleeing Imperial tyranny, will come looking for them?
That would mean that said rag-tag fleet travelled through the entire Imperium they're trying to flee to get there...
