Is this list easy enough?

So I'm trying to work with a new player, creating a simple to use 130 point list to match against my 100 point teams, using my stuff. Conditions are to minimize the special stuff they often forget to use (like Action upgrade cards and torpedoes) and an emphasis on quality over quantity (oh, and a S&V list). I've constructed the following list, but does anyone have feedback to offer? I'm especially thinking of removing BTL-A4.

Serissu (20)
Predator (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Stealth Device (3)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)
Laetin A'shera (18)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
Stealth Device (3)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)
Guri (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)
Fire-Control System (2)
Stealth Device (3)
Virago (1)
Syndicate Thug (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Unhinged Astromech (1)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
Total: 130

Star Viper would probably get more mileage out of autothrusters than stealth device. Ditto, an extra hull might help the M3-A's rather than the stealth device since they are really squishy. Stealth devices are nice and all but really all it takes is one good attack or one bad defence roll and bam they're gone.

An alternate Y-wing build (though it will cost 2 more points) is Kavil with Unhinged Astromech and Autoblaster turret. The turret is only range 1 but it will help the player learn the importance of movement and it can be surprisingly potent.

Sensor Jammers are also great for Guri but again, it's more expensive so may not be an option.

For a new player, that list is crazy complicated. You've got 3+ upgrades on each ship along with pilots abilities that have various triggers. A new player will have trouble flying in formation, so Serissu will be really hard to use. I'd go with ships that are less fragile and more forgiving to maneuvering mistakes.

Based you what you have I'd go with...

Boba Fett

- Recon Specialist

- Engine Upgrade

Hired Gun

- Ion Cannon Turret

- Unhinged Astromech

Dace Bonearm

- Ion Cannon Turret

- Recon Specialist

Black Sun Soldier

Black Sun Soldier

That adds up to 129, so I guess you could throw an Inertial Dampeners on Boba. This list only has a few upgrades per ship. The turrets and ions will help make up for piloting errors. The overall hit points of the list is pretty decent. There are only two pilot abilities, and they are pretty easy to use.

I started out learning on two Starvipers and the Most Wanted box set. For the first time flying I would suggest going with generic pilots. Having your friend starting out at 130pts is not going to make it easy on him.

However it is probably best to let him look at the cards and work out something for himself. If he finds pilots he would like to run then go for it. Build your list after working on his and while the game is going if he forgets something then let him know. Starvipers are good ships to learn on because they can get basically anywhere and do not go down that quick.

If this is for a new player try to give them more ships (less impact from putting one on an asteroid or facing the wrong way) and not a lot ships with upgrades or pilot abilities (less stuff to forget). I'd stay away from giving a new player Scyks at all, especially expensive ones. Those ships are so inefficient that the only way to get much out of them is to outplay your opponent.

What 100 point list are you running? That makes a big difference on what you should have your new player friend put on the table.

True. I've decided to give them input, but let them build the list themselves (credit to Arcana57). However, I'm trying out something completely off-the-wall myself to give them more of a chance: Major Rhymer outfitted as a missile rack, with three TIE Fighters as support.

It also depends on how raw of a beginner they are. If it is their very first game then I would recommend a simple 32 point single small ship game. Last week when I was introducing the game to a friend I gave him Luke + R2-D2 and I used Guri + Lone Wolf since it gives him something tanky, forgiving as he learned how ships handle and few extra effects or action to think about and I could show him some of the various other actions the game has.

He then had a lucky range 3 roll of hit and two crits and I rolled nothing. Lost my shield, couldn't perform actions on my action bar and direct hit.... that game didn't last very long.
