"Crazy 8's"

By Sonikgav, in X-Wing Squad Lists

A tweak to a list i posted a while ago trying to find the best combo.

Poe Dameron (38)

- BB8

- PTL

- Autothrusters

Horton Salm - 40

- Twin Laser Turret

- R2D6

- Marksmanship

- Bomb Loadout

- Proton Bomb

Lieutenant Blount (21)

- Adv. Homing Missiles

- Veteran Instinct

99 Points.

So i still get a 1 point initiative bid, and a full squad at PS8. Blount may not be that effective in some situations but his potential to brutalize Soontir or Phantoms (providing he can get into range of them) is hard to ignore. Also using him allows me to sneak the bombs onto Salm as during testing, most playing against me dove for him to get into that R1 Bubble. The bomb should help change their minds.

Any thoughts?

Messers Echo, Eclipse, and Jax would like to have a word about identity theft.

I give Horton two rounds of combat, dealing a total of 4 damage before becoming space debris. With no bomb damage. For 40 points. A lean Horton is the best option, he's no point fortress.

To be fair ive been running him at 35 and he seems survivable enough for the most part. The Bomb is a curiosity i wanted to try out. 6 Points going spare for the rest of the list then i guess.

I guess the real question after playing that build is how often did the Marksmanship help the additional attack get through?

He hasn't once failed to get both points of damage through. Marksmanship is one of the best options for Salm, and also Kavill if they're taking the TLT.

think id rather fly THIS

My previous build was similar except I kept Salm at 35 points and ran Jake Farrell almost the same as you have Tycho.

Darth vader

Title

Advanced targeting computer

Turr phennir

Title

Stealth device

Autothrusters

VI

Whisper

Advanced cloaking device

VI

Fire control system

All pilots at lvl 9, all highly maneuverable. Turr takes on your turret as my Phantom and advanced take on your jousters. I win :P

Would be better to swap FCS from Whisper into a Lone Wolf on Vader.

Vader without EU seems like such a travesty

I prefer him with Lone Wolf and Stealth Device, m'self.

I had him with lone wolf to begin with, but as I tend to play in the center of the field with all the asteroids, I never got to use it. As for engine boost, I agree its great on him but only needed if he's your only arc dodger and you are backing him with a mini swarm or a deci. As I have 3 arc dodgers, it was low priority. (Although if I had the points I would lol) Most ppl chase after darth thinking he's the threat, so I dropped most upgrades off of him and I fly him defensively. The Phantom takes out most of my opponents ships and the Interceptor is there for back up and as a special weapon against turret ships. Darth is just a decoy and I hide him behind rocks for extra dodge. Ppl always think that the Phantom is useless after the so called nerf, but I surprise them with it's effectiveness. And a fully upgraded Interceptor is hard to beat.

QUestion on the OP list... isn't Blount PS 6?
