First 300pt game on Sunday, What do ye think of

Will be playing 300pt and 200pt games this Sunday.
What do you think of the below; we can only use the ships I have in my collection.

{Collection: 1 Firespray, 1 Decimator, 1 Defender, 1 Phantom, 1 TAdv, 2 TInterceptors, 5 TIE fighters}

What would you change up and what would you take out for the 200pt listing?

Squad 1: Oppertunists
[ DC comes in at target from the front. BS tries to get behind. ]
-- TFer: Dark Curse
-- TFer: BackStabber

Squad 2: Fast & Hard
[ SF fast attack after W hits them hard. ]
-- TPhantom: Whisper w/Adv Cloak
-- TInt: Soontir Fel w/Push the Limit

Squad 3: Up close and Personal
[ The boyz pile in. Range 1 fun. ]
-- TFer: Howlrunner {Gives reroll to one of the boyz.}
-- TFer: Winged Gundark
-- TFer: Mauler Mithel
-- TInt: Carnor Jax w/Push the Limit {strips enemys of Focus and evades}
-- TAdv: Cmd Alozen w/TIE/x1, Predator, AdvTC

Squad 4: The Heavies
[ Try to stay at range 3 and blast away ]
-- TDef: Rexler Brath w/HLC
-- FS31: Krassis Trelix w/HLC, Seismic Charges, gunner.

- If you could proxy or borrow veteran instinct for Whisper, that would help (I found that people are very lenient towards proxies for epic)

- It's going to sound weird, but if you could downgrade one or 2 of these tie fighters to academy pilots then it could work to your advantage: a single tie fighter can create a chain bump reaction that will seriously damage an entire enemy fleet for a turn (while protecting your trailing fighters from suffering the same). That can be well worth it.

- Krassis: gunner will not allow you to fire your HLC twice and you'll rarely miss, so you might be able to assign some points elsewhere.

Other than that, you have lots of good key elements: not too many upgrades on the same ship and lots of fighters, so you should have some fun :)

VI comes with the Slave-1 expansion, so he should have one.

Academy Pilots are better than Gundark or Mithel. Re-examine your TIEs, and justify the points spent on them vs the same number of points spent on Howlrunner + Academies only.

Also, Howlrunner gives a re-roll to ALL friendly ships at Range 1, if they're attacking with their primaries.

You think VI is better then AdvCloak for Wisper? if so why?

This is actually all my ships in my collection, except for ther Decemator.

For our Frendily games we decided no proxies of ships in game 200pts or above.

Also all the ships in Squad 3 give some sort of bonus to being within range 1.

i was going for a squad that liked to get in close and nasty. :)

Veteran instinct is meant to work in conjunction with advanced cloaking device, not instead of it. PS 9 (from VI) will hopefully ensure that you are cloaked by the time the enemy fires back.

What upgrade would u recummend dropping to be able to pick up VI for Wisper?

Winged Gundark: lowering it to an academy pilot to get an ideal bumper will free the points you need.

I'm positive dotswarlock was talking about dropping Gunner, and keeping the HLC on Krassis. You could put Tactician in it's place, I love Tactician on firesprays, it works out of the rear arc too if they get behind you. Here's what I'd do:

  • Switch Gundark to an academy, as previously recommended
  • Switch Gunner out for Tactician
  • Add VI on Whisper
  • Add Stealth Device on Fel
  • Save 2 points for an initiative bid or sprinkle somewhere for flavor

Try GR 75 if you can. On the Rebel side of course. I was reluctant to introduce Huges on our games. But the GR 75 is the most amazing ship to play in Epic. Be it in your side, or your opponent's.

Well I lost. :(

The Dice gods were playing with me. First 3/4 turns my dice were possessed.

Was getting nearly 100% rolls, attack and defense. Twas getting so bad my opponent tight I had the dice fixed!

Then the opposite happened. On 1 turn I got no hits and on 1, that's 1, evade roll. Lost 4 ships that turn. :(

The Close combat squad worked very god at the beginning. Wiped out 3 x-wings. but then got split up.

Not good. they pretty much fell apart after that. Got to learn to fly formations better.

The opportunist squads was a bit mixed. DC & BS didn't do too bad. But the other squad got wiped pretty fast.

Think they only shot once before going out.

The Heavy hitters at the back didn't stay at the back! Must not be tempted to dive in!. :(

I think most of my issues was bad flying and the dice just turning off!.

Will definitely try this again.

Went up against:

1 Falcon, 3 X-wIngs, 1 A-Wing, 4 B-Wings. think that was it.

Still have no idea how to deal with B-Wings. By the time I had most of the shields down

I didn't have the ships left to take out all the hulls.
