Squad for first tournament

By FellowPT, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm going to my first tournament this weekend and was wondering what everyone thinks of this build:

Omicron pilot w/ emperor

Darth Vader -predator, ATC, EU, title

Soontir Fel- PTL, Stealth Device, Autothrusters, title

I like that the emperor can buff Vader's attack by converting a blank to a crit or as an extra evade on defense. I'd fly the lambda shuttle in the background and try to keep him out of harms way while perhaps getting some shots off if I can get into position.

I feel the real problem is I only have 2 small ships for all my damage output which is probably not enough firepower.

I appreciate anyone's thoughts

I personally use LW on vader instead of Pred - but that's just me...

This is going to be a strong list for the new developing meta - mark my words ;)

Play conservatively with your aces and focus on getting to the end game where they both shine. If you opponent goes hard after the shuttle they leave up 2 huge end game threats. If they dogpile one of the aces Palp will be sure to make that ace very hard to kill. It's a tough mental call for your opponent and definitely acts as a "real world" stressor to inhibit their flying abilities

Looks great to me. Don't have most of the cards you're fielding, but the Fel set-up is very dangerous and the other stuff looks good to me. I'd say go with it.

Omicron + Palpatine = Gloomshuttle.

Looks like you're at 101 points, though...

So, yeah. Lone Wolf.

Possibly, also Stealth Device rather than Engine Upgrade. It improves your match-up against Turrets, when against non-turrets you're likely to win anyway, and gives you an Initiative Bid for winning the mirror-match.

You want PTL even on Jax.

Picking up 2 tokens for defense is still better than picking up one action on offense, particularly with TLTs around.

Besides, with TLTs, Jax's ability is fairly redundant :)

But not every other list (to a tournament) is going to be TLT-spam...

Yes, but it ain't like the TLTs are the only things against which my recommendation is useful.

Here's my Doom Shuttle list:

Omicron Group Pilot

-Darth Vader

Soontir Fel

-PtL

-Autothrusters

-Stealth Device

-Title

Echo

-ACD

-FCS

-Rebel Captive

-VI

I have experienced running two Interceptors in the past with some success. Usually Fel/Jax. If you take that route you usually have room for Palp versus Vader. Very fun, competitive list. Your original list looks solid too.

I really really like targeting computer on fel over stealth device, it will help a lot in the mirror, and considering you need fel to do a lot of the heavy lifting, you need to take advantage of those range 1 volleys. Plus stealth device means you have to put your faith in the green dice....which I'm not a fan of.

Thanks for the help. I miss calculated my original list and I'm going to go with LW on Vader. I like the idea of Targeting Computer on Fel. I'll def give that some thought

Do not use Targeting Computer.

Ever.

It gains you +9/16 damage if you use TL and Focus, over just Focus, over your 3 dice.

It gains you +12/16 at Range 1.

HOWEVER: It leaves you defenseless. Stealth Device renders you nigh-untouchable, while you're a mere mortal without.

Heck, in a TC vs SD Fel-Fight, My money's still on the SD Fel, as he'll have more damage get through the opposing mitigation than the reverse... which is the opposite of what was thought to be the case.
