Dash

By Ksnake, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

New to the game.

Is it legal to use dash and do the following:

Move / move / attack

Special action / attack / move

Attack / move / open door

when I think of dash, I think of performing an extra move; therefore, two movement actions not just one movement. Need clarification. We had a disagreement.

Thanks,

Ksnake

Dash grants one monster an extra move action on top of his regular two actions that can be used to make either an attack, a move or a special action/open door action! That means that all the scenarios you stated above can be true.

Are you sure, dude? I play DASH as an extra movement action only. I would say that the first sentence is true, the second depends (if that special action is considered as an attack action or no); and the third isn't true, cuae open a door would be a third action - and not a movement. Please let me know if I´m right or wrong.

Yes Alarmed is correct. Dash gives you an addition move action. This action is in addition to your two normal actions. All of those scenarios are legal

Correct- think of "Dash" and "Frenzy" similar to Grisban's heroic feat- they grant an additional action of a very specific type. So, the monster performs any two actions is could normally perform legally, and in addition to those, it can perform a move action or an attack action (depending on which overlord card is played.)

So, if move, attack is legal (it is), then with dash move, move, attack is legal. With frenzy, move, attack, attack is legal.

If open door, attack is legal (it is), then with dash open door, move, attack is legal. With frenzy, attack, open door, attack is legal.

Make sense?

I see. Thanks everyone.

Just to be more precise : as long as Dash (or Frenzy) is played before a move action (or an attack action), and no matter if it's the first / second / third action
it's legal and so all three example sequences are legal

In green the action gained by Dash

Move / move / attack or could be Move / move / attack
Special action / attack / move
Attack / move / open door

Same thing with Frenzy

Move / move / attack
Special action / attack / move
Attack / move / open door

To be more precise yet : in the

Special action / attack / move

Dash can be played any time : at he start of the monsters activation, so before the two regular actions

or just after the special action, so after the first regular action
or at the end of the two regular actions

watching again the third example

Attack / move / open door

if the OL waits till the end of the two regular actions (so after attack / move) to play Dash (or Frenzy) of course it will not be legal : to do an open the door !

So better (if possible) to always play those cards at the start of the monster activation ! ;-)

All but your last example is strictly legal.

The last example is fine if your group is lenient/relaxed. Technically, Dash and Frenzy don't work retroactively, but "Oh, I meant to play a Dash there" is usually acceptable.
