Brother Gherinn and Blessed Strike

By YamiDragoon, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So Brother Gherinn just learned Blessed Strike,

which made me wonder..

1) can he use his own Hero Ability in combination with the skill's attack?

2) If he does, and the outcome of the attack (with the help of the ability) is exactly 1 damage, will he recover the 2 damage for himself and that other hero?

3) What is also confusing, are the parts saying "after defense dice" and "after dice rolls".. could the ability miss Blessed Strike's timing?

So it would be..

Blessed Strike -> attack deals 2 damage, defense dice roll 2 as well -> Gherinn's Hero Ability leading to the attack dealing exactly 1 damage over defense -> healing 2 for the chosen heroes

We think he does, but we're not sure, so I thought I'd ask to clarify this :)

1) Yup, since his hero ability can be triggered when you "attack" and you are indeed attacking.

2) Yup, 1 is "at least 1".

3) "After rolling defense dice" is there to clarify that the attack has to actually do damage. It's not just that the attack and power dice have to show at least 1 heart, it's that [attack results] - [defense results] must be at least 1.

Note that even though Gherinn will recover 2, he'll only have 1 less damage than when he started, since he had so suffer 1 for his hero ability (X - 1 + 2 = X + 1)

1) Yep, thought so, thanks :D

2) What I wondered about, so.. the "at least 1" is also allowed to be reached AFTER using another skill after the dice are already rolled :)

3 and Note) Yeah, that was obvious.. well, maybe not, for some (don't want to offend anyone), but yeah :D

Damage dealt is calculated exactly once- during step 5 of combat. Anything that triggers off of "if this attack deals X wound" (dealing a condition, blessed strike, etc) happens right then. So the recovery of "blessed strike" takes into account everything that happens before step 5.
