AT-ST shooting

By eSBee, in Imperial Assault Campaign

I cant manage to find the rule about this.

Can AT-ST shoot thru impassible or blocking terrain (excluding walls)?

Cheers,

SB

The "Massive" entries might help here:

And given my readings of those two things - it's a tough call - I can see it going both ways. The rules seem to only address movement in relation to blocking terrain so - in theory, you are ignoring the terrain which means you should be able to attack as well. But - the rules on attack through blocking terrain are clear and that would seem to disallow it - even for Massive, since the rules only address figures and line of sight in relation to Massive.

Good question - will be interested to see what others have to say.

TL;DR: no idea

My friend said (rebel player):"It would be logical for AT-AT to be able to shoot target behind impassible or blocking terrain but also rebels can shoot back at it.
Because AT-AT cockpit is up high so you are able to see it and damage it."

Although this is not in the game mechanics I think there is some point to it.If AT-AT can shoot rebels they should be able to shoot back.
This rule of course only applies to massive figures.Large figures, like Nexu, are not affected by this rule.

IIRC, no the AT-ST cannot shoot through blocking terrain. Any figure may draw line of sight through and shoot through impassable terrain.

As a Massive figure, it gets to ignore blocking and impassable terrain when moving, and also as a Massive figure, other figures do not block line of sight both to and from it. However, it still cannot fire through solid red lines.

It can, however, choose any corner of any space that it occupies in order to draw Line of Sight from, and you may be able to find a way around the Blocking terrain that way. I also believe that, as with Mobile, if a Massive figure is standing on Blocking terrain, line of sight can still be traced to it... but now I can't seem to find where I read that.....

Ok...so I cant shoot at rebel scum over blocking terrain.

I have create image representing two situations.

First situation is the one where I cant shoot em!

Second situation: Can I move my AT-AT like this and then shoot rebel? Can AT-AT finish its movement and stay in blocking terrain?

According to the FAQ if the Massive figure occupies a space containing blocking terrain, Line of Site can be traced to the figure, spaces can be counted to the figure, and adjacent characters can attack that figure.

So if the massive figure is on opposite sides of blocking terrain, you can't shoot it, but if it is ON blocking terrain, you can.
