The Hills

By dormouse, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

First we had -

Aegon's Hill
3 Gold
King's Landing.
Challenges: Kneel Aegon's Hill to look at an opponent's hand. You may choose one character card in that hand and place it in its owner's dead pile.

Then we had -

Visenya's Hill
1 Gold
King's Landing.
Any Phase: Kneel Visenya's Hill to choose 1 character card in any discard pile and move that card to its owner's dead pile.

Now we have -

Rhaenys’s Hill
Cost 4.
King’s Landing.
Any Phase: Kneel and discard Rhaenys’s Hill from play to put all characters in a single opponent’s dead pile into play under your control until the end of the phase. At the end of the phase, return those characters to their owner’s dead pile.

Now THIS is an interesting cycle. Any thoughts? Anyone inspired to include all three in a deck and find a way to abuse them?

It's too bad Prove One's Worth isn't in the environment anymore. That could be an interesting "drive home the win."

But yeah, it seems like there should be a way to load up a dead pile, then take all the characters to create a win solution in a round where you just overwhelm your opponent. Not sure what it is yet, but there should be a way to do it.

How about playing against Baratheon? That should do the trick...

Too bad Rhaenys' Hill is "at the end of the phase, return those characters to the dead pile" instead of "kill those characters," otherwise, there could have been some fun stuff with "zombie Nobles" and Power of Blood.

Yeah, that probably wasn't a mistake.

I wish Bastard of Bolton was still legal. I'd build a Targaryen Treaty with the Isles deck, just for fits and giggles.

Oh, that would be brutal! Bastard of Bolton was one of my favorite cards, and I always ran him out-of-house in my Greyjoy deck. he synergized well with the WED Lannister Iron Throne too.

It's too bad we don't have Vargo Hoat to re-stand all these locations.

Wouldn't help much with Rhaenys' Hill.

Another thought; it's expensive, but since you discard it, multiple copies in the deck could happen.

...and if you could properly control the contents of your discard pile you could get this to cycle with street waifs. Maybe an out-of-house Selyse to prune your discard pile contents or something. Might be difficult to manage, but fun. =)

Hmm, it is an interesting cycle. Pretty resource intensive, especially for that piece of the machine, but I'd like to see someone put this in action to see more about closing out the win with it.

Yeah, I like the whole "hill" theme. Maybe there should be some dragon-related stuff too. How about...

Dragonfire Hill

Cost: 3

If you have a dragon in play, all non- dragon characters receive -1 STR.

OR

Dragonbones Hill

Cost: 4

After a dragon leaves play, search your deck or discard pile for an ally or queen character with cost 2 or lower and put it into play.
