The thing I love about them is that they also pack nearly the exact same dials. The only difference is in a 3K vs a 4K. Otherwise, same whites, same greens. Makes a Mangler Scyk or two into a pretty appealing wingman.

I like Scyks, I've just been horrible at keeping them alive. But they are crazy-fun to repaint, nice lines and angles.

I've tried using them but they just pop so easy only once did they ever kill anything.

I want to like them but they are hampered by that overpriced title.

Yes you can, but I can't since I don't have Imp. Aces. Still, some people find it worthwhile to add TL to Tie Fighters. Still....we are talking about Scum here.

Tried Proton Rockets. It was a nightmare because they really need their focus for defense and if they spend it, they can't launch the Proton Rockets. Of course, I only tried it once. Maybe I need to try it a few more times and learn the nuances.

The only success I've had with them is as a 1 of when I have 2 extra points in a list. The problem with the Scyk isn't the 2pt tax on the title, it's the 2pts they have to pay more in the first place. One of those 2 things you could deal with...both...nope. AND lackluster pilot abilities. Serissu and Lametin are pretty interesting but not competitive. Lametin with an EPT may have seen play but without only sees dust (or becomes dust if played). Serissu's ability working on herself also would have helped. Oh, and having pretty much ANY upgrades slots could have helped a ton.

They blow up like ties...if they cost significantly more than ties you're paying too much.

I was very nearly one of the first store champions with Scum - with 3 Scyks in my list. The first Saturday after wave 6 dropped, I ran N'dru with LW and Clusters, 2 Heavy Sycks, 1 Mangler Syck, and a base Z-95. Went 3-1 to make the top 8. Won 2 games in the cut before getting stomped in the finals by a Han/Corran list. I admit I got outpiloted that game, but that was when my dice went very cold. Having 2 Scyks one-shot in the opening engagement pretty much ended the game.

I love the Scyks. I just wish they weren't such glass cannons. I like running one with a Mangler or an HLC as a flanker and 20-23 point filler in lists. Now that the Kihraxz is out though, that may be where I go. Losing barrel roll hurts a bit, but the extra 2 hull points should keep the ship alive a bit longer.

5 Scyks with manglers and just mangler Scyks were popular in my meta for a while prior to wave 7 when the K-Fighter stole all their thunder, I basically never see them now.

Alright! That's what we like to hear.

Scyks thrive when they're not the centre of attention - when they're overlooked or considered not a threat. So you need a little misdirection alongside them - something scary looking, like a Firespray or YV-666 helps.

I've had a lot of fun - and some succes - flying Scyks in combination with Kihraxz. Three Cartel Marauders flying aggresively in formation, with two Mangler Scyks flanking or following them in. Firing last, the Manglers will often get their crits in.

I think HLCs may paint too large a target on them, though

We know it is the cheapest Cannon in the game, but there are surprisingly few viable Cannon.

• Ion Cannon
• Mangler Cannon
• Heavy Laser Cannon

Mangler Scyk is comparable to a TIE Interceptor without the Royal Guard title. Or boost. Or autothrusters. Or a Green Turn.

BUT the Scyk has a better slow-play than the Interceptor, and is a little more damaging at R 2-3, and comes with a free Targeting Computer.

Also, is playable in SCUM, so there's that.

HLC and Ion SCYKs don't really have a parallel, though, so they're the strongest options at the moment.

Of course, soon there will be a Tractor Beam, which should be incredible.

I think the TIE/FO is what the Syck was meant to be but they tried to mix fluff with game mechanics and that doesn't always work. I would of reduced the basic M3A by 1 point, had the title cost 2 points but give a extra point of hull with the caveat you MUST equip a secondary weapon to balance out the cost.

I had a great game night last night at the store. We had a good variety of lists out there. Almost every Rebel list had the K-wing, but I think every table had bombs on it. Oh, there were a lot of Z-95's on both Rebel and Scum lists. It was really cool to watch a bunch of games in progress and to talk to people. There were times when you KNEW a bomb was coming, but all those Z-95's couldn't get out of the way. I was using my Tie Bombers and loved seeing the Z-95's as they were utterly predictable and couldn't get out of the way of bombs once they were dropped. I saw a lot of other players getting their Z-95's hit by bombs. It wasn't until this morning that as I was thinking about how I played last night that I noticed how much I loved seeing Z-95's across the table from my Bombers. It got me thinking about how a cheap ship with Barrel Roll could be much better in this type of environment with all the bombs. The Scyks might find some time on the table once people get their heads wrapped around Bombs. Maybe.

I disagree with this idea. Laetin is great vs. TLT's, which is the new hotness right now. Also, Serissu has been used in a growing number of lists that I've seen. I think her with 4 generic Kihraxz Fighters is a good list. I think it's competitive if flown right.

I've personally never done this, so I cannot imagine why the benefits of the title were not baked into the ship itself. It also boggles the mind that the title does not add an illicit slot and/or 1 hull in addition to the missile/torpedo/cannon.
