I found Sycks actually quite irritating to kill (leatin, serrissu, Guri with bodyguard) unless killed in a specific order.
and sorry, but a cannon on a flanker is good.

I remember my pal flying two of them with Manglers and Stealth Devices alongside two Vigos with Autothrusters. Doesn't sound like anywhere near the most effective use of points, but the Scyks either barrel rolled out of arc or failing that, took the evade action each turn and were right little pests to deal with.

Yeah I was proxying him at the time, and he is simply brutal.
But I had to admit, Sycks ain't bad at all. and Synergize well with Guri/bodyguard.
..and with their heftier Kirhaxz cousins. Flying x 4 PS5 or 5 x PS2 ships together can be pretty brutal.
Exactly, Khirax' are great mainline fighters, and Hvy sycks are incredible flankers.
Scum has developed into a good solid side now. Very fleshed out. All they need are 2 huges.

You don't fly them with missiles or torps, because a Z-95 is superior and cheaper for missiles at least, and there really aren't many good options for a ship with only 1 slot right now anyhow. You COULD consider a proton rocket, I suppose, but that just seems like a lousy idea.
They need something else. Something that might make you consider torps or missiles as an option.

This wouldn't hurt our little M3A terribly bad since it has only one shield. It would increase the cost, but you get a sure-fire shot and possibly a second shot in a turn.

Even factoring in the premium for the title, it's still the cheapest cannon carrier in the game!

How do people feel about them played as tie fighters? They arent quite as fast in a straight line as tie fighters, but have a slightly more manauverable short dial and a shield over a hull point. Does the 2 extra points kill it off?
The cannon option is fab, but gets so expensive quickly, mine often carry ion cannons.

the beauty of the Z and TIE is that you can field them for 12 points as the base model, higher for gubbins or PS.
Those 2 points for a swarm ship that's just as fragile and strong on attack is a big tax.
I don't think the Scyk is intended to be a swam ship, though. Like the Rebels, S&V has the Z95 in that role (my Z95's have actually all migrated across to Scum entirely now).
Scyks on the other hand feel like they're supposed to be a light flanker - a naked Scyk is in a similar niche to a Chardaan Refit A-Wing (and in a similar price range, when you consider they have one less shield but the superior Barrel Roll instead of Boost).
I bought two Scyks when wave 6 dropped. Won a third at a tournament. I just traded away that third Scyk for a new damage deck. I guess that tells you how I feel about these little beauties. I like symmetry so three kinda bugged me and buying a fourth did not seem like a good idea.
I just can't see EVER really finding a great spot for the Scyk. Laetin could give a TLT list fits but if you blank out on your first roll, he's dead. Serissu might be the defensive boost for Scum large ships but at 20 points, that's an expensive crew member.
Tractor Beam! The future of the Scyk?! 36 points gets you an ion Scyk and a tractor Scyk. 54 points puts in a flechette Scyk. I dunno

I think the 2 pts scares off most people, which is a shame. Just because there is the Z-95 or another faction can get the Academy that is similar, they think it's not worth it. When you get the basic Scyks you get:
I agree that Scyks aren't swarm fighters. You don't want 4-5 of them most of the time. I think they work great when you have other ships that attract the attention. Two naked Scyks can be really effective in a list with bigger fish to fry...especially with the new Kihraxz Fighters! You can now have an affordable generic that is a bigger thread.
Yes, the Z-95 is 2 pts cheaper and has 1 more shield, but it's dial is isn't as robust. I find the Scyk's maneuverability a better ship in certain lists. Of course, it can't be the center of attention or it will most likely die.

Flying a four HLC-Scyk formation with Serissu is still fun. Four HLCs generate a lot of damage.
