at 0 damage a shot, I somehow highly doubt it
Depends what they do. If I can add a red die for every tractor token on a ship I'm shooting at, then it becomes worthwhile to have a couple cheap tractor beams in my fleet.

I think the scyk has a little too many problems combined at the moment. It can't take Autothrusters, its maneuver wheel isnt perfectly fit to what you want when you take a cannon it, taking a cannon and any other upgrade makes it pretty expensive for its defensive capabilities, you cant realy make it dodge anything as a defensive option, it doesnt have a lot of options besides taking a cannon or not.
I really wonder how they will try to bringt it in as more viable selection.
And they screwed the Viper in pretty much the same fashion. It's viability hinged on having squiggly+2dots on it's action bar. They didn't want to crowd the Int's game space so the Viper got banged up the Barabbas.
The Scyk's problems stem in part from the (Scum) Z-95 costing 12 points and the(Scum) Y-Wing costing 18 points. Between those 2 ships are a lot of neat options. So there's a tiny design window for a customizable 14 point ship. I think they _just_ missed that window. Unfortunately, that leaves the Scyk smacking into the glass.
So to answer the question "why doesn't the Scyk have an illicit slot?": it would intrude a bit too heavily into the cheap filler role the Z-95 already has.
Honestly, the Scyk doesn't need much. Maybe a zero point modification that lets it take a barrel roll as a free action after it takes an action? That would let it be the arc dodger its dial asks for. It would also let the Scyk be very different from either of the other 2 cheap Scum ships.
Scyk just needs a 0 point reprint of the Heavy Scyk Title; clearly the two point tax on goodies was a printing error.
*sigh* FFG, why do you so often insist on overcosting things?

Because they could fix them later on and sell them again together with a lot of other stuff.
I understand that they rather make things to expensive than too cheap. Its better to have a few ships which arent very cost effective then to have one ship thats an ultra effective killing machine. I guess having cannons on a cheap ship was what they feared to potentially be that super-ship.
The Barrel roll- extra action would be a nice trick that would definitly help. It wouldt give the Scyk crazy defense bonuses but still help in that department.

Which ships are too cheap?

Maybe it's not on FFG to "fix" it, but on you to figure out a way to incorporate it into your playing style?

Git gud lrn to play bro. ![]()
@TheRwalStarkiller
I didn't say any ships are too cheap. I think there is a misunderstanding going on. I said FFG would rather make some stuff to expensive than too cheap. Especially in such a big releases as the Scum introduction wave. There were quite some factors to adjust for the whole faction, so my guess is they tried to be careful about it.
@Gecko
Sry i don't really see a point there, you can give that answer to any claim of anyone. Also i explicitely did not name it a "fix" but more viable selection, i think there is a difference. I don't think Scyks are the meta defining game element or anywhere near it. In fact i think they are on the weaker sides of selection, so why shouldn't i talk about that?
I never said there is no way to make any Scyk list work if thats what you are reading into it.
Edited by CaineHoAThe scyk did not have the illicit upgrade slot so the headhunter would have a niche as the cheap illicit carrier.
