Litko Fighter Squadron Flight Stands

By Thraug, in Star Wars: Armada

A friend found this squadron stands that I haven't seen mentioned before. They hold a D6 and use a groved gear-wheel to switch activation colors. They also have an odd mount for the models. Anyone seen these in action? By the looks, it seems the base may not be 100% the same dimension as the official bases, making them illegal for tourney play?

I think this was made specifically for Armada. As a TO I would have to look at the physical copy to judge it. At a store championship or higher I would say no

Han will be sad, you'll need a d8 for the damage counter, at which point you end up with the age old problem of using dice for markers. They get picked up and rolled.

Some of the other Litko kit looks very nice on the other hand.

I think they'll be a great replacement for when the FFG ones inevitably wear out.

From the Litko page:

Note: these flight stands are not compatible with the original game stand or the miniatures from the game. These stands are designed to be rules compatible, and allow you to expand with non standard miniatures and use the rules for other backgrounds.

I think they screwed the pooch on that one.

I just don't like it. I'd be looking for a design that makes things more streamlined, or in lieu of that, sturdier for the tabletop battle, and adding a die just seems to go the other way,

I had a similar thought.

Part of why I like Armada is how well made the pieces are and how streamlined all the health points and such are.

Adding a six sided die is a tangible step *away* from that well manufactured simplicity. I'd prefer a flight stand that simply fit the existing squadron tokens.

I just got the litko range ruler and distance ruler- my advice, I wouldn't trust this company.

The rulers themselves are about 1mm too long and ALL the ticks are off- no two are simultaneously aligned and are a smidgen off. I'm probably going to ask for a refund.

It just doesn't seem like a very useful product.

I agree. There is no point to it for use with this game. Your FFG provided bases are unlikely to wear out and you really when never need to utilize all you have at once so you already have replacements.

Between the Core, Rebel, Imperial, and Rogue packs you'd have 40 bases (even with just one purchase of each). Even supplying both lists you can never use that many bases in one game. Unless you are playing like 750 on 750.

This product screams to me "Hey look.. This looks cool.. Cant use it.. or make up house rules.. But it looks cool.. Now buy 37"
