Evading Monsters

By xWolfiex, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

When a monster has been successfully evaded does it return to the cup or stay on the board? I would figure that it stays, but can't find the rule to back this up. Thanks!

If it was already on the board, it stays, if you Evaded a monster drawn because of "a monster appears", it goes back to the cup.

Aha! Thanks for the quick response!

Probably been answered a bunch before but I'll sneak it in here.

When an investigator returns to Arkham from the other world, does he have to immediately deal with monsters on the gate since technically he ends his movement there? For some reason I had it in my head that they wouldn't have to deal with them until next turn movement phase, but I can't find any reason you wouldn't have to deal with them as soon as you got back.

You had it in your head cause you probably read it. Pg. 18 of the rulebook says you don't have to fight the "Monsters guarding gate" the turn that you return. Timing is important though. If you return to Arkham due to an encounter (Phase 4), and a monster pops up in Mythos (Phase 5), the turn that you returned is over and you have to fight the monster(s) in the following movement phase (Phase 2), before you can close/seal the gate (Phase 3)

The turn you come out, you can choose whether or not to fight monsters on the gate. The turn after, it is no longer optional.

Another question which seems to be slightly related to this (and also to that recent thread about Ghathanathoa):

After you return from an Other World on to a gate, is it possible to then use a Motorcycle to gain two movement points and move two spaces in Arkham? You wouldn't receive your normal movement points that turn (since you started the movement phase in an OW), but does that make it impossible to gain more movement points from items?

FAQ (the old one) says:

"Q: Characters in Other Worlds receive no movement
points. But if a character in an Other World has an item
that gives the character movement points, such as the
Motorcycle or the Ruby of R’lyeh, can the character use
an item that requires the character to spend movement
points, such as the Necronomicon?

A: No. You cannot receive movement points or use any
items requiring movement points while in an Other World." (p. 4)

I would hazard a guess that this could be said that if your investigator does the OW movement on his/her turn, cannot receive movement points.
