I was wondering if anyone in the community has tried magnetizing your bases or gluing non-slip pads to the bottom of your bases to increase traction on the table. It's almost comical how easy it is for the ships to slide around on the stock bases...
Grip tape, egrips, or other non-slip?
No, but we've also had no issues on FFG and GF9 Mats.

I love this as a gaming surface. It has exactly the right level of density/grip to keep ships and squadrons in place, as well as allowing dice to roll without scattering over an unexpectedly wide area.
Oh, and it's also exactly 6'X3' and costs ~1/3 of what it would cost to get two FFG mats. My personal favorite detail is that since it's not a manufactured play mat, it's as kosher for tourney play as any felt mat someone might bring.
Seriously I love this thing. If the lack of starfield bothers you (It really doesn't bother me at all) just spatter some white paint down with an old toothbrush.
