The last time X-Wing had a major pre-release event was to celebrate the launch of Wave 4. It'd be great to see another one for the new wave, but the logistics would probably make it a nightmare. Wave 4 was a purely small-base wave for only two factions. Wave 8 is launching with three factions, making the final event difficult to map out. Do you make it a 3-way? Let players pick? Or just not bother after all the people who elected to skip the final rounds during the Imdaar Alpha event?

Imdaar was fun, but seeing as how big wave 8 is, I don't see how an event like that would work.

Oh how I wish. Imdaar was extremely. fun. But I heard it was a nightmare for shipping and logistics at FFG. Wave 8 could only make matters worse, since it's 2x the amount of ships and has +150% more factions.

In any event, I hope they do something for it. Even if it's acrylic Cloak, Weapons Disabled, and Tractor Beam tokens (to encourage people to buy more new ships).

Imdaar Alpha list building was a great way to get excited for Wave 4. I bought a bunch of stuff immediately after release solely due to the play testing I did.

A Wave 8 event with a similar final round match would be equally exciting, and make me and other players more likely to buy stuff right away.

If they ever release a multiple faction aces pack, it'd be neat if they held an event where in the final round, players had to use a ship from the aces pack, and the winner won the entire expansion. That'd be a really cool way to win it.

I doubt we'll see new Cloak tokens, as they already did that not long ago. Weapons Disabled, Extra Munitions and Tractor Beam tokens are almost certainly coming, along with acrylic versions of the Conner Net, Cluster Mine and Ion Bomb.

This is simply speculation but I think the preview events have only been done when the wave has been extremely delayed. Armada wave 2 was so, and iirc wave 2 and wave 4 were also quite late.

It seems to me that they are penance for being late, but who knows. Shrugs.

Wasn't that basically how Imdaar worked? When I won it, I had to integrate a Phantom and Defender into a new list, and then won the right to pick the ship I wanted (Phantom).

I agree regardless. The ships I have won over the years have always been a little more endearing that those just bought. I guess that's the advantage of paying the iron price rather than the gold.

Not necessarily. Massing at Sullust was only announced on August 25th and it is the weekend of Oct 3 and 4th so that is only a few weeks notice. The rumoured released of wave 8 is end of November ish so if they were to do one say the weekend of Nov. 14th still plenty of time.

This was my understanding as well. Which makes the logistics doubly difficult, as they have to get ships as prize support that they are having difficulty getting _at all_.

So if Wave 8 is coming in November- even if it is delayed until December- we shouldn't expect an event.

Now: if for some reason Wave 8 is delayed until April, we might expect an event.

I don't see an Imdaar Alpha event happening simply because it'd be very hard to fit the VCX-100, Attack shuttle, and T-70 into a list together. Imdaar list building was somewhat constrained already by the presence of the defender and Phantom, but that's running close to 70 points before upgrades.

I got into x wing right after assault at Imdaar but the rumors I've heard for armada are that wave 2 has been ready forever but wave 1 got held up at the ports.

I don't think wave 8 will be able to do such an event, while im super excited for it the ship's are too scattered in type and value. Can rebels even really fit anything else into a t70 ghost shuttle build? If imps run a generic fo and prototype they're not changing the list much. Scum would be the only wave 4 analog
