Copying mechnic from one LCG to other is completely senseless becasue it could stole players from one game to another. Why play two games with similiar core mechanic?
New GoT LCG influence?
I've just gotten into AGOT 2.0 to learn more about the LCGs. It is impressive. If L5R is built on the same frame as AGOT 2.0 but adding setting-specific elements (dishonoring, dueling, etc.), then I expect to be quite pleased with the result. Honor and dishonor as routes to victory basically already exist because political power and intrigue are two of the three ways to get VPs.
The themes between the two settings are so strong that there are even similar factions:
Scorpion - Lannister
Lion - Baratheon
Crane - Tyrell
Crab - Night's Watch (they defend an ancient wall!)
Dragon - Martell (enigmatic, playing a long game)
Have taken up the AGOT 2nd ed lcg too, and there are definitely things I think that could work. It really does capture the warring clans theme. One area where it would fall down imo, is that it doesn't project the mass battle feel that you would expect from L5R.
I have been playing warhammer conquest too. And again that system also has similarities to l5r. The planet system is something that could really work in L5R. I think a mix between the two somehow could work for l5r.
I would however, like to see a new system put in place to do the IP justice, rather than a patchwork pattern of other existing games.
