Massing At Sullust: Questions for Store Owner and Organizers.

By Versch, in Star Wars: Armada

1. How many of each expansion was in the event pack?

2. Are you really going to play the fourth game? (Most venues I have seen are only doing a 3 round tourney) It requires the use of all expansions...so dependant of question 1 above, everyone may have to wait for game 4 resolution...eek.

3. There are 5 Expansions for Wave 2 and only prize descriptions for top 4 placements. What are you doing with the 5th? Is it going to the winner of game 4?

5 expansions. Yes I am enforcing the last game.

5th expansion goes to the TO. For me if I am playing, I am opening up that I th prize to 5th place.

I am also working with the stores to see what they want to do with the mover that goes over the initial cost of the kit. Which I hope leads to gift cards

MORE IMPORTANTLY (to me) is there no database online that lists the participating stores? I'm cold-calling every joint that sells frickin' comic books within fifty miles trying to get lucky and it's getting annoying. If these stores had to jump through some online hoops to get access, it'd be nice to see the hoop jumpers listed somewhere.

I don't know about FFG directly, but those in Canada had to deal with Lion Rampart, the exclusive distributor, and they did have to Hoop-Jump.

There are 5 Retailers in the City of Calgary who offer X-Wing Products (And thus, Deal with Lion Rampart).

Only 2 of them have Sullust Kits. One of them, The Sentry Box, was featured as a Major FFG Retailer by FFG back in 2014, and happens to be one of - if not the - largest Gaming Store in North America... So they did not have to justify.

Myth Games got their confirmation last week from Lion Rampart. And confirmation they were being sent out was sent Yesterday.

A Couple of people have Emailed FFG over it, and have gotten No Response.

Come to Cincinnati. We have two stores on the same day. Lol

Very interested in the question #2 responses... I've done a complete 180 on that fourth round from being ALL about it when Sullust was announced to echoing Versch's "eek" now.

Or come to Massachusetts...many stores participating in the event. Saturday and Sunday. I'm looking for a Friday event as well with no luck so far. You can sleep on my couch!

It does suck there is no list online for retailers that are doing the event.

If they Event pack came with exactly 5 expansions, that means 3rd and 4th place's winnings will be on Game 4's Table...because the 4th game requires lists built with ALL expansions.

Whats that mean? It means after 5-6hours of Tourneying, winners won't get their stuff...heck, not even get to open it...until 1.5 to 2.5hrs later (listing, eating, carousing, jubilating....consoling, heheh)

I totally dig the coolness of a final match up. Not if its an inconvenience.

Oh, and the winner of Game 4 should get the 5th unselected expansion.

1. There are 1 of Each Expansion, 5 Total Expansions.

2. The Fourth Game is only played by 1 and 2 of the Swiss Rounds. Yes, you're going to be sitting around for your Prize after that, if you hit 3rd or 4th (and possibly 5th), and your Prize will be Gently Used.

3. The 5th is scheduled to go to the TO. Some Generous TO's are putting it back into the prize pool, but this is generous, and is not required.

Oh, and the winner of Game 4 should get the 5th unselected expansion.

So they get 1st or 2nd Pick, and 5th Pick ?

You disagree? If FFG says the TO's get the 5th expansion, then I see why a lot of stores are not doing the 4th game, because its meaningless beyond just the enjoyment of 1st and 2nd place players.

Meaningless, except as a showcase battle to celebrate the Pre-Release that this is...

This is being done for Publicity after all...

Thank you for your input and answers as it pertained to the original thread title.

I'm not a fan of the fourth round either and two stores decided against even applying when they realized that was adding another 2.5 hours to the event.

Also wouldn't the 4th match up also play into who gets first pick? Or am I off base?

Portland Oregon, 5 events over 3 days. 1 Friday, 2 Saturday and Sunday

Maybe Mikael Hasselstein would still TO his 1 event and I might of TO 1 event as well but not 2 which means a store would be out and everyone would have to travel further and might not get in for the Sunday event

You are correct

Kind of what I thought. So not optional. But, obviously, if player one and two agree what they would choose. And the TO agrees. Then it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

What I have an issue with is the idea that a TO would play in the event. Possibly get second. Take that prize and also get the 5th for running it. I believe it should be either they are playing for fun. To help the byes not be bored. Or forefit the 5th choice to the 5th place. Or raffle. And take a chance at first. Seems that if a TO and I are going at it. And the winner of our round will be second. Playing in the final round. Then I want his attention. So he wouldn't be able to give full attention to the other players questions. Etc. idk.

As a TO, if the top 2 players decide they don't want to play match 4 and can come to an understand of who gets the first pick and who gets the second pick, I'm okay with that. If they want to play it out, but 3 and 4 don't want to stay, well, that's tough cookies as that's what the tournament entails.

The big thing I've noted in my own search for events to get beat at is that a lot of these places don't have a lot of space. On the one hand they need entrants to help pay for the prize support. On the other they could easily get more entrants than they can handle and end up with a host of other issues. On that line of thinking it isn't feeling unreasonable for there not to be a list available here.

But with that said there should probably still be a list.

Attempted to start a list in a few different threads. Not enough people were posting where. And when. It needs stickied until Monday. And someone to keep editing it.

100% agree. That's just **** lazy on their part not to try and build hype. It's not like they don't know who they sent the kits to.

To quote..."C'MON MAN!!!!"

The tournament document that comes with this kit recommends that only two rounds of Swiss should be played if there are fewer than 8 players, to be followed by a third round with all the new stuff.
