mixing pilots and ships

By 414taylor, in X-Wing Rules Questions

can i use the pilot cards from the old core with the ships in the new core and vice versa? if i wanted a swarm but didn't have enough ships could i use the new xwing/tie with old pilot cards, etc. thanks

In a casual game, whatever you opponent is OK with.

But in a tournament game, no, because the ships are different. The old core X-wing is not the same as the new T-70 X-wing and the TIE Fighters are different also.

Not in a tournament: they're considered different ships, and have vastly different stat-lines, costs, and even dials.

It's the dials part that will cause a problem for you even in casual play. If I have one of each core set and want to run both X-Wings as T-70 X-Wings I'll still only have 1 T-70 dial even if my opponent is otherwise ok with me using the T-65 X-Wing as a T-70.

Good point
