I think the general answer to that would be...yes.

Across the board!

the pdf that contains the Squat data is rather large topping out at 100 MB. i'm not particularly sure of what delivery method to utilize given its size. i was thinking for those interested . send me a friend invite and from there you can add me to either an msn or yahoo IM and i'll transfer the file or i can upload it to limewire. let me know which method will work best for you or one i haven't thought of.

this pdf is a 1st edition Rogue Trader supplement. it contains the aforementioned Squats also Harlequins, details on the making of a Space Marine, Ogryns, the Imperial Guard, Terminators, Dreadnoughts and rules for Imperial Robots and a few more things. if anything its a good stroll down memory lane.

cheers

That is so cool!

Anyone wanting more detailed info on my adventure, please send me a friend request and I will make an official looking adventure. It would give me a goal.

I promise that the continuation of the adventure is very brutal and bloody, as the players must eventually fight an Orc horde trying to destroy the second Squat world, while the second Squat world is being devoured by a secret chaos cult. So when the players save the planet, the chaos cult will do everything it can to make them miserable.

As for my best villain, he is a Rogue Trader named Lord Abel Hurtz.. He is a devious and scheming nobleman. His bodyguard is a former Imperial Guard beastman named Kilgore Max. The rest of the crew is crack, and their vessel, the Dornfeldt, is a frigate decked out for hit and run.

While the players are trying to save the Squats, the Dornfeldt is waiting to raid the players ship once its loaded with Squat loot.

So here is the plot for the Squats (no ryme intended)

In my setting, which is canon to the point of the Squat worlds, the Squats inhabit a 3 system pocket empire, hidden by 3 seperate field generators which hide the 3 systems entirely. These field generators date from the Dark Age of Technology. These 3 worlds are also linked by a mini-webway, also from the Dark Age.

The Orcs have stumbled upon the least populated world and decimated it, and in the process discovered the whereabouts of the other 2 worlds. Looting the first world (Kazadur), the Orcs then outfit their ships with amazing tech devices, then commence to fight amongst themselves. They eliminate each other, one vessel escapes, and it is this vessel that the Rogue Trader and his vessel are attacked by. They players need to win the engagement, the Orcs are weakened by hunger and power source problems, so this engagement should go over easily.

After capturing the Orc vessel which is useless they discover that it is equipped with a teleportium. one which also links to the mini-webway of the Squats. I am going to give them one other piece of archeotech, but havent decided what yet. Maybe an Eldar pulse laser array. They also discover how the Orcs came across the teleportium, and the pocket empire. They do not discover that the teleportium links to the webway until they are attacked by a Squat war party, which had been raiding the Orcs, and now hits the players ship from within (if they hooked it up).

That is as far as I got so far. A space battle segment, some looting, and some mysteries.

This is awesome! I hope you post more on where this story goes. Nice to see (as others have stated) folks willing to step outside the "canon" to create stories that matter to the enjoyment of you and your players! This is pure dead brilliant!

Good to see someone else who is happy to ignore canon when they feel like it. I'm all for using races that are no longer official according to GW's viewpoint. In my current WFRP game I am including both Fimir and the followers of the fifth chaos god Malal. Hope the campaign goes well.

HO HO Malal! My My The renegade anti-chaos Chaos God! Kaleb Daarke and all his friends. Truly you are wise in the ways of ancient lore. Most GW younglings are not even aware of his existence. Now all we need to do is reintroduce the Gods Of law: Solkan Alluminas and let Arianka out from her Crystal coffin prom beneath...was it Praag? My memory fails me.. and then its a party. Sensei Knight in 40K anybody? Theres gotta be a few hanging around...

Yes, it was Praag. I really love those wacky 80s. Anything goes. Somehow my 1e RT is still more fun read than DH.

the Sensei have made an appearance in my campaign, tentatively thus far... the players have no real idea who or what he is as yet. but the ole days are good ones come back. how about some good ole Harlequin Solitaire magic? lol

I thought the official line was that ...

There is no official line. They've been quietly edited out or hinted around in BL books and simply not mentioned in new GW publications. The line about being eaten by Tyranids is apparently just a throwaway joke from a fanzine editor in a letter column.

No it wasn't, it's specifically stated in "The Inquisition Wars", right at the very beginning. That makes it official/canon, the Squats were eaten by the Tyranids, in Games Workshop's view.

The Squats will be making a slow return as the possibe main apparent "enemies" in my campeign, one side working hand in hand with the brothers on mars, another side looking for necron phase technologies and a third side who've been making deals with the Tau and showing them some tricks with warp technologies...

Ofcourse, it all gets a bit messy when an Eldar Seer pops up and makes a referance to an ancient prophecy about the group and their (radical) inquisitor...

What are Squat starships like? Any unique weapons/ strategies?

Yes :)

This is Squat topic? Did I do something wrong?

Nah, just that GW have at no point said that he's a Squat. He is a 40k dwarf, given the back-pack, so it'd make sense that, in the current setting, he's a Demiurg.

Squat, Demiurg... whatever, they are all space dwarves for me :)

He is not a squat or a demiurg. It is the white dwarf in space, if you would have read the current WhiteDwarf you would know that he is simply the space version of last years Gromrindal.

A dwarf in space is a squat.

I have never claimed he was either but as someone said dwarf in space is squat (or demiurg). just thought it could be interesting. doesn't prove anything.

No.... a dwarf in space is a dwarf in space, given that dwarves and squats are two entirely different species from two different games.

No, a dwarf in space is a squat. Take a Warhammer Dwarf, give him a lasgun and some flak armour and you get a 40k squat. A Demiurg is something else of course.

A dwarf in space could be simply a squat but this is a certain dwarf character in the warhammer fantasy universe made as a space version. It is the great and ancient dwarf Gromrindal in space. It is Gromrindal in space not a squat.

Yes we all know who and what he really is. Its a promotional figure for White Dwarf, thus its another Gromrindal figure.

But GW can not be so ignorant as to not anticipate that the viewing public and its fanbase would no draw a connection or line from The White Dwarf in space, to dwarves in space to squats.

So either it is just a simple promotional figure with them not thinking it through, or its a tease at the fans at the fans exense, or perhaps its a clue to intentions to maybe do something with the squats, such as a white dwarf article or a PDF codex that allows them to be taken as allies by the Imperium or even theTau.

Chances are, its just a dwarf with a space gobbo in his mechandrite.

But the figure does fit this threads theme and the OPs question/statements about squats. And Im sure if I get this Gromrindal in Space figure, it will be showing up as a Squat to antagonize the explorers and acolytes in my game.

Especially since, back in the dawn of time, the WFRP/WFB world was located in the Eye of Terror in the 40K universe.
