Wouldn't Sensor Jammer Brobots mutilate TLT swarm?

By Glucose98, in X-Wing

yeah, Sensor Jammer/AT bots do quite well. I run them with HLC, leaving me one whole point for an EPT/Illicit. Vet Instincts is okay, but I'm going to try out Wired this week, since the ships are stressing themselves half the time anyway.

I've been trying IGs with Wired and it's very good - on the Aggressor, Wired seems almost too good to be worth just 1pt.

What about using Determination as an ept? Prevents you from losing the pilot abilities when taking pilot crits?

That doesnt matter anymore with the new damage deck, as none of the pilot crits get rid of your ability anymore.

Well right now with a meta that is high PS and the new damage deck that is anti-generic pilots, just about anything can kill swarm.

I wouldn't say the damage deck is anti-generic. It's anti-everything. The old damage deck was biased toward punishing higher PS.

Ohhhhhh, man.

I'm not sure Wired is better than VI on a BroBot but it sounds great...

I ran brobots at Australian nationals, expecting plenty of TLT lists. I only ended up playing one TLT list. Seeded 3/82 and got knocked out in the top 8 match by the eventual winner.

IG88B, VI, Autothrusters, HLC, FCS, title 48

IG88C, VI, Autothrusters, Mangler, sensor jammer, feedback array, title 49

Iggy B in the more traditional set up, iggy C in the counter TLT set up, and with feedback as insurance against soontir and the like. 97 for initiative in the mirror, though ironically i was knocked out by 98 VI brobots in the top 8 game.

Sensor jammer was significantly better in 2/6 games, but i found myself wanting FCS in the other 4/6. It's trading something that is generally useful vs something that is very useful in the right circumstances, i still think it was the right call though.

Feedback saved me at least twice. Once by finishing off a ship that was out of arc before he shot, and another by setting up a bump with a high ps ship and zapping him without getting shot first. Well worth bringing.

Back in my day it wasn't a Swarm unless it had 7 or 8 ships... **** kids and their 2 ship meta!

You, sir or madam, are allowed on my lawn at any time.

I would think shifting to a asymmetrical setup will greatly enhance the Brobots lifespan in the new meta. Kit one of them out to survive indefinitely against swarms and TLTs, and the other as a High-PS hunter killer that can out damage an ace's survivability, and make it to where if one eats it against the thing the other counters, the other can finish the game. Something like this:

IG-88B (36) 49 total
Veteran Instincts (1)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Fire Control System (2)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
IG-88C (36) 50 total
Predator (3)
Sensor Jammer (4)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
99 points total, B is perfectly set to take on PS 8 evasive regenerating targets, and stands a good chance against Soontir if he can be caught off guard or bumped with C, especially while C is up to give him an evade for the 1v1 head to head. C should single-handedly eliminate a swarm or TLT-spam list, especially while B is up to give him the gunner effect to mitigate terrible dice. The early loss of the Anti-Ace IG doesn't stop the Anti-Swarm IG from stomping the swarms, and vice-versa.

I think this is the best idea of the thread. Now I wonder if its good enough to prevent full 4 TLT lists from existing for long? :)

I've been quite happy with my 2 TLT and ace hybrid list

I don't think anyone really minds there being some TLT in the list, just having it be 100% makes the game kinda boring.

The thing about four TLT lists is that they have a huge number of hard counters ranging from true swarms to brobot lists like these. The only reason that they are causing such a splash right now is that they are really easy to fly and are themselves are a hard counter to to the most popular lists in the meta prior to their release.

Eh, sort of. No more wiping Dash's HLC or clearing out Han's ability and Predator, but on the other hand, no more gunner ships ignoring Blinded Pilot. Loose stabilizer prevents a boost, not that it matters where a fat turret moves to or how many actions it can take with Predator and C-3PO, but it'll help.

All the old damage deck did was wipe turrets off HWK's and Y-Wings anyways. Excited for the new deck.
