L5r Board game????

By krynillix, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

I would love a game resembling Pathfinder Aventure Card Game with L5R instead of D&D. I'm probably dreaming since it is very different from the kind of games FFG is already doing and they would have to put a lot of work, but...

Probably not on the level of a LCG with monthly releases, but I wouldn't mind something on a similar scale.

A Living ACG would be cool, where outcomes of debut scenarios impact the next set releases. Probably only at big conventions like Gen Con and FFG's big thing in the winter.

But couldn't you have a game that is customizable per group? Like Risk: Legacy or SR: Crossfire?

Only Risk: Godstorm and Risk: 2210 should ever be mentioned when it comes to Risk.

Risk legacy is one if not the best variant of Risk...

Well, I'm a bit of a purist--I love the original.

But I will confess to liking the Walking Dead version--cause . . . well . . . I have always had a soft spot for Zombie games in general--you know, Zombies, Maul of America, etc.... ;)

i wouldnt be surprised if a legend of the five rings risk edition is in the pipeline too

Not sure if you're being literal. Of course Fantasy Flight does not own the rights to straight-up Risk . A tactical boardgame was desired by the fans and AEG alike for quite some time, but the logistics of printing the miniatures prevented the product from ever taking shape. FFG would not face that problem.

What I will say, though, is I hope that in FFG's natural style it will be a bit more complex than Risk , and will feature nonmilitary elements in keeping with the setting. Dramatic assassinations, honor and shame playing a decided role in the success or failure of warfare, the devotion to religion in Rokugan, supporting the Crab Clan's siege, etc.

If anything, it would be like Star Wars: Rebellion.

Do you mean the video game from the late 90s?

The FFG board game released earlier this year, where two-four players wage war as the First Galactic Empire and the Rebellion.

cool. I'll have to look for that one.

So the Total War Shogun 2 campaign as a board game?
