Cursed Dice killed my End Boss!

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Just tought of something: When the boss rolls poorly and gets taken out real quick, how about revealing it was not the real boss but a body double?

this is why we invest in minions and mobile suits

Just like Metal gear solid

I suppose in the end, it was a good thing my dice fell the way they did, because the Marauder was barely standing at the end, a couple blows in the Mando's favor and the fight would have gone differently.

Ah well, the fight was epic and everyone had a blast - so that's all that mattered.

i don't see how this is a problem? isn't that the best possible outcome for an epic boss-fight? the characters barely make it? and the fight was a blast, so... not sure what your problem is. ;)

if you rolled very poorly and the player marauder was only barely standing after the fight, i have to assume that the npc was too strong (it's kind of hard to balance these kinds o f things though). did you intend to kill the character? not judging, btw, that could also be a great moment in a campaign.

I think I can be a little more original than Doctor Doom.

A GM of mine had something similar planned once after my character one shot killed Xizor who was dueling Vader at the time. (My character was commander of the naval forces attached to the 501st. The commander of the 501st ground forces ordered everyone to make sure the fight was fair. Over 300,000 crewmembers under my character's command had been killed by Xizor's shenanigans and he wanted Xizor to have exactly as fair of a fight as Black Sun had given his subordinates.) But things fell apart and the campaign ended before we found out he had been a double ICly,
