By The_Brown_Bomber, in X-Wing Squad Lists

spotted these two pilots in a list here on the forums and thought id add my own tweeks.

Boba Fett (39)

Proton Bombs (5)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Gunner (5)

Slave-1 Title (0)

Extra Munitions (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

56 pts

Whisper (32)

Rebel Captive (3)

Sensor Jammer (4)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

44pts

Total: 100pts

PS 10 and PS9

Boba with two proton bombs. Sensor Jammer to help vs TLT's.

I'm considering switching gunner and rebel captive between the ships but want to test this version out first.

I actually think gunner adds much needed punch to fett who can struggle to get enough damage through at times.

Tactician on Boba over gunner is an option as well but im leaning towards the added offense gunner gives.

thoughts?

Firesprays get mulched by TLTs

I don't think it is viable to load up a Firespray that much, especially not the Imperial characters.

I had the idea of a super controll Boba once: VI, Ion Bombs, Tactician, Ion Pulse Missiles, Slave 1, EM. That is already a bit point heavy with 49. I would consider running this next to IG-88 B as Scum, though, not for the Empire.

If you want to fly Firesprays as Empire run them the generics naked or with Recon Specialist for 33 or 36 points respectively or make a super stress Kath with Tactician, Mangler and maybe Calculating (although VI is an important consderation here, too). Otherwise Scum is just superior.

Super Stress Kath is hard because it relies on your opponents dodging your attacks to work. It was cool in the 2 ship meta because you could totally lock out/severely reduce the combat effectiveness of 50% of your opponent's force so it wasn't a big deal that half of your force wasn't doing damage - as long as you paired her with a high damage ship like Whisper. However now that we're moving back towards a 3-5 ship meta I don't think stress cannons like Imp Kath are that viable anymore.

Thats what the Tactician is there for. Kaths ability is just an added bonus. She is going to do crit damage and in the case she doesn't - well have a stress token! It is especially good against SD Interceptors.

Yes I follow how the build works, I ran stress cannon Kath and RC Whisper for most of my FLGS's fall league ;) The issue is in the 2 ship meta both of your ships needed to be hitting every turn. 50% of your points pushing through 1 maybe 2 damage per turn (even a crit) is not worth it's points against anything other than another 2 ship build even though it stresses the crap out of your opponent; and even against 2 ship lists it still struggles to deal enough damage before Kath inevitably goes down. Believe me, I love the idea of aggressive imperial control on firesprays instead of just using stress mechanics as a deterrent. Unfortunately the TLT may have put the last nail in the coffin of the imperial firespray..

Don't be so discouraged, I have run a RecSpec Bounty Hunter list against quad TLT and lost a very close game. Had I been better at using the holes it would have looked diferently. The good cost-stat ratio along with higher PS gives generic Bounty Hunters a good shot at surviving the new meta.
