Another Sullust List - looking for feedback

By kami689, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Have been trying to figure out what I want to run for Sullust and looking to get some feedback. This list is a slightly different than my normal. I had to trim it down the upgrades a bit in order to squeeze in another ship, as I found that with my normal list only running 2 ships right now is very hard to pull off. Just looking to get some feedback and see if any changes are recommended.

I would try and drop some points somewhere else for Demolisher. Lose an engine techs and ACM on the vic maybe. With your 299 bid you are at high risk of going second and without Demolisher your opponent can move the ship first that you spent so much effort with techs setting up for a sweet double arc shot. Then you are sad.

Like Gorthaur said, it's basically my recommendation too. Then again, that list has been what dealt with no less than 20 times in the past 3 weeks (yeah, I've got a lot of games in). What I will say by way of rebel experience is this: it works and it can really hurt. But, like all things, you do have to be careful and leverage your power or else the hammer and anvil technique of the VGG-R gets itself split up pretty badly and taken apart piecemeal.

What is your plan for Fleet Ambush? Glads up and Vic's back? Or plain Glad and Vic with the Demolisher rear field for its nice long reach on the flank? I'll just spout off my usual line when it comes to this Minné ball, sorry if it sounds like a platitude or patronizing (It took a while for my opponent to get the Garm command token thing for squadrons): don't cluster up on deployment, keep the Advanced a little loose and you can respond to any turn 1 threats, and then converge for the squadron command rather than getting yourself locked down. Those bombers are almost certainly going to survive getting shot at, and only Dutch is really a big threat in locking up Rhymer in the first place. If you space your bombers so you they can only get to 1 or 2 at most, it's not a lock down with a token fighter escort. Activate Rhymer first and that's that.

Opening Salvo with this list has hurt me pretty bad because of the paired blue/black ACM player 2 combination payoff. (Double blacks get braced or often evaded at long or medium range). It did more than Precision Strike did, but that's because of the particular ships I was using, and then the face up damage is countered by the natural instinct to use ACM's which won't flip that damage up and often meant sacrificing the black crits. It was counter intuitive to mitigate damage that way compared to something like an XX9 Salvation/Luke/Pride set up that I had been toying with.

Superior Positions is a fantastic one for a skittering Demolisher that's simply cutting up a few ships for the points and going after traditionally weaker aft shields. It gets points, it has the best chance in the game to score those objective points, and it responds quickly. Not only that, with player 1 setting up first, Demolisher can really pick its prime real estate for setting up attack runs for turn 2-3 and then quick-turning for late game clean up rather than just going down in flames.

I know I normally don't chime in on builds, but I figure 'after more than twenty games against this in the past month, I sort of figure I should know this'. Oh, and I also saw an interesting variant that, surprise, replaced Rhymer with a standard bomber and Wulff on Demolisher which gave me pause for thought.
