What list wins Worlds 2015?

By gamblertuba, in X-Wing

What it says on the tin. Let's see some utter speculation on what list wins and what does the top 8 look like? We have all the ships and cards in hand, how do you think the meta will shake out in the next month or so? "Difficult to see, always in motion..." but let's see who can predict the future.

My guess:

Winner:

RAC/Fel

Top 8:

2x Brobots

1x TLT Spam

2x Deci+Ace

1x Rebel Mixed

2x Pancake+Ace

Winner: Brobots

Top 8:

2 Brobots

2 TLT spam

3 Mixed Rebels

1 Two-ship

In addition, I'd guess in those mixed Rebels there at least two will have 1-2 TLTs, at least one will use Poe, and at least one will use Luke or Wedge.

ETA: It doesn't fit neatly into the rest of my predictions, but I also bet we'll see at least one three-ship Imperial list pairing a Palpatine shuttle with a high-PS arc dodger.

I doubt RAC/Fel wins unless it doesn't face a TLT list by some miracle.

Winner:

RAC/Fel

The current wave(s) called to inform you that RAC/Fel is DOA. :P

RAC/Fel? Really? In a post-TLT world?

I also think a 2 ship list will win. My guess is Han/Corran.

I'm pretty sure someone will copy my Redline/Alozen/Scimitar/Academy list and take it straight to the top. No one expects, etc.

I fully expect to be completely surprised by whatever list wins, it'll be something we didn't see coming. Probably some combination of TLTs and pilot abilities that forces a lot of decisions in early engagements (heck, Paul may very well dust off Biggs again and use two TLT Y-Wings instead of FCS Blues and basically just rerun 2013; Tarn+R7 might be his fourth ship? Plus Integrated Astromech if it's out and legal by then, but that's a long shot).

I don't expect to see a 4x TLT list in the Top 8. I expect 2-4 of Top 8 will have at least one TLT in it. One TIE Swarm will probably make Top 8, either the steadfast 8 TIE list of half Academies and half Obsidians, or a 6 TIE Swarm that uses a pair of FO TIEs. Miranda will be the new Fat Han but not enjoy nearly the same measure of success since she's so easily focussed down early (much like Han). I expect half of Top 8 will be 2-3 ships.

If I were betting, my Top 8:

1 Brobots (not using B)

1 FireTooth (personally, Boba/Eval, but I can't count out Bossk/Kath or Boba/Razzi)

1 TIE Swarm

1 Miranda-centric list (either MiranDash or MiranHorn, or Miranda and some spam)

1 Ace/Ace/Palp-Shuttle (probably Fel/Vader)

1 5xKihraxz

2 Mixed Rebel

Mine.

Mixed rebel swarm with 1-2 TLT.

I think we can expect some mixture of brobots, tlt madness, and Palpatine with ace (either shuttle + 2 aces or decimator + 1), to make up a good chunk of the top 8, and other than that it's hard to say.

I'm thinking a scum list with Hounds Tooth will win.

1 FireTooth (personally, Boba/Eval, but I can't count out Bossk/Kath or Boba/Razzi)

Well I guess I'm not the only one trying to figure this one out then.

My money is on a Poe list.

It's a nice Hammer/Anvil dynamic; the Firespray is manoeuvrable enough to bring targets to the YV, or adequately punish anyone that tries to outflank/swarm the YV.

hopefully a legal list :P

most likely a 2-ship, though, until people re-learn how to fly a decent number of ships under the new half-points system

With all the TLT panic I think it is more likely that people overreact and leave the Decimators and Falcons at home. Of course 2 ships have been the standart for a long time, but I hope at least some of the guys who will go to worlds still remember how to play X-Wing.

See I don't know for certain because I think a lot of people are going to be caught surprised when their Large ships don't net them the MoV they're used to, and the people climbing to Top 16 will have probably practised just that (or eschewed Large ships altogether). I mean, two B-Wings can score a full win over Han Solo while all three ships are still on the board. That's huge.

I do hope we'll see some immediate change

even the nationals had some very refreshing innovation (r2-d2 Dash with 2 BSPs) and I hope we take that into Worlds and any gaming table we happen to play at in the future

I'm optimistic! There's certainly enough new interactions with which to play around, and the new Rules Reference will impact certain things as well (Night Beast might make Top 32! What a crazy world!).

I'm putting my bet on a Palpmobile + Fel + Vader of some sort. Very strong list in the right hands, can be flown a number of different ways.

Top 8:

2x Bro Bots

2x Tie Swarms

2x TLTs with stress hog or Dash + TLTs

1x 5k

1x Emperor/LW Kenkirk + something

The Spanish Inquisition?

I would be so excited to see 5K make the cut. What are the chances for BBBBZ or AC/DC? With the new partial MoV scoring, I am curious if some of these tanky swarms will show up in the top 16 more often.

Has anything (except for the MoV rules) shown up that weakens BroBots? I am really curious about how many of those lists will make it in.
