Rise of the machines?

Ave, X-citizens!

Before our new twin-laser overlords descended upon us, we were seeing quite a lot of the metal brotherhood, correct? I saw quite a few at my one and only competition, miniranker had them posting very highly, and the Major's excellent threads on nationals showed them to be a force too.

Now, I like everything about brobots (except their naff sculpt): they have their limitations but they can be mitigated by expert flyers, they reward foresight and punish bad maneuver, and they are susceptable, to some degree, to blocking, asteroids, and knife-in-the-back high ps arc dodgers. They're extremely powerful ships that nonetheless remain susceptible to certain lists.

I haven't played much at my club recently, so I was wondering if people had spotted them being used even more now? It strikes me that they are the big winners in a tlt-twisted meta... They have nothing to fear from those tasty y-wings themselves, yet the y's have put the hurt on a lot of problematic lists. Received wisdom in any Predatory-prey analysis would predict a spike in population for the brobots. What have you been seeing on the ground? Is the IG-88 having its day in the sun?

The double post was not, unfortunately, a hilarious piece of punning on the dual nature of brobots. :)

Their popularity will even rise more since they are the hardest TLT spam counter. Befor that I saw some of them and people agreed they were strong, but they lost to RAC/Fel and Imperial Aces builds which always have been among the most popular around here. I will have to see how the meta around me evolves, but I would assume Brobots will be a larger part of it. Good that I have my Conner Nets.
