(Back to playing in like 20 minutes guys!)

Battle of the Matts is over.

Matt Shadowlord (P1) defeats Biggs (P2)

415-339 for a 76 point MOV and a 7-3 win.

Superior Positions was the objective, and it was a slugfest. Which was NOT how I wanted it to go, but Matt had some excellent maneuvering to disrupt my formation and secure a bloody, bloody win.

Im still waiting on Maturin to get back with me on a time to play. He is having pc issues I think.

Indeed I am. Apologies...my laptop is well and truly dead, the techs told me this past weekend. I will have to replace it, but probably won't get to until this coming weekend. If that puts it past the pod deadline I'm happy to forfeit to Deadshane.

Hopefully I can get a replacement this weekend, and get a game in midweek?

Doobleg vs Gowtah starts in just over 2 hours (0800 UTC). :D

Doobleg v Gowtah is done!

Result: 9-1 (to Doobleg)

Points: 346-110 (236 MOV)

The mission was Superior Positions, and Gowtah was the first player.

Great game - replay link shall be posted soon. :)

JJ's Juggernaut vs Green Knight is beginning shortly (5-10 minutes).

Final Round:

JJs Juggernaut (1st player) vs Green Knight (2st player)

9-1

MoV 278 (440-162)

Contested Outpost

No Vlog, unless someone else recorded it, I forgot to start one, haha.

A good old slugfest between myself and Green Knight. My three Victories bore down hard on the outpost, one even braving the debris fields to do so. My squadrons quickly eliminated my opponent's fighter screen, and my capitals began to open fire on his Victories who had rolled over the station and were now moving slowly forward. The two Gladiators of Green Knight moved to attack my right flank and take on my Warlord. One Gladiator boxed Warlord in while Demolisher moved in from behind. They did massive damage, but Warlord blew through the glad in front of it and moved on towards Green Knight's flagship. With concentrated firepower (gunnery teams again prove their worth) I took down Screed, but not before he and my opponents Warlord did massive damage to my carrier. My Warlord was at 8 damage cards and my carrier was at 7. With first activation I was able to destroy his Warlord and start to move away. Demolisher came in and finished off my carrier, but missed its shot at Warlord, I then finished Demolisher with my Flagship which had turned in and just barely got its front arc to bear.

A really good match, and I will be the first to admit I did have better then average rolls. Green Knight's dice where a little more unforgiving, but I had some key maneuvers that got me into arc and out of key arcs of my opponent. One of the keys to my win, however was having initiative. I knew right away I couldn't let Demolisher have a double tab, especially being I was down an activation. In fact, until I evened the activation number, I was being forced into some sub-optimal moves. I was able to mitigate the objective (we split 2-2) by rushing the outpost. I also found out how much squadrons are useful for deployment. I've tended to play minimal squadrons, and this was the first time I was able to use them to delay and it really help me to see my opponent's ship placement. Just my few thoughts after the game. Thanks to my opponent for being very sporting and hopefully we'll get a chance to play again in the future!

Good summary!

If I might add something: set-up was pretty much what I was looking for. But my gamble with the boxing didn't work out. You rolled uncommonly many accuracies :-)

After it died it was an uphill battle. You maneuvered well though, maximizing your arcs, while I had some trouble with mine.

One of the more interesting battles to date.

Sweet almost done with this tourney :)

Just want to report that my game against [ERROR UNAVAILABLE] Went great it was a lot of fun.

Any way report Clontroper5 (1st) vs[ERROR UNAVAILABLE]

Objective: Empty Space

8-2

Great guy[ERROR UNAVAILABLE] kinda quiet but we got a good game in, I set up my star destroyers in a nice line with my bombers diveded into two hroups. One on each flank.

His set surprised me with an strange looking [_____] formation smack dab in the center.

Turn one I launched bomber wings 3-8 and with some lucky rolls knocked the shields off of his [_____] ship. On turn 3 the battle heated up with [ERROR UNAVAILABLE] making his fatel mistake...

He mis maneuvered his flag ship and got caught by my victorious Destroyers who made short work of it, in the meantime my bombers countined to clean up his [_______] and there escort [______] with some help from flight controllers.

Turn 4&5 it was looking pretty good for me with my bombers really laying out some punishment and both his [____] had some pretty horendious rolls keeping my Vics healthy

Turn 6 his forward [______] finally goes down thanks to corruptor+ a squadron command and then seeing all hope is lost[ERROR UNAVAILABLE] Had his remaining ship, the [________] do some pretty Epic last Stand Attacks bringing down A Vic with 6 damage thanks to the [______] upgrade and then kamakazi a second Vic Killing both.

This left[ERROR UNAVAILABLE] tabled but he was able to kill enough last turn to bring it down to 8-2 (I was really lucky I got 3 objective tokens otherwise it would have been 7-3)

Thanks again to[ERROR UNAVAILABLE] for playing and being nice enough to let me win lol :)

Sounds like a great game, Clontrooper. Can't wait to see the vlog replay. ;)

Good news, i found it live streamed on youtube.

How's that game comin', fellas? :)

I think there's only one game left to resolve?

Yes, and my computer issue still isn't resolved. I'm hoping next week. If that's too long as I said I'll forfeit the game...

No dramas, dude, just checkin'. ;)

ah too bad about this tournament, I only discovered Vassal today. I guess you guys recommend it when its difficult to find local opponents regularily?

Vassal is just good. An awesome addition to the hobby.

I will give it a try, looks really good. Maybe someone here can give me a game once I am familiar with it.

More than happy to. Often found lurking from 7 am CET. Not always, but often enough.

so I had a look. All the components are there, on different places, and I understand how to put on table or in hand, but how it all comes together is still a mystery. I guess thee is no "engine" leading you through phases, right? Just manually doing ecverything as if you were in a life game.

One question, pls: Could you theoretically play against yourself? I think I just could select being one player, not two.

Needs more than 15 mins to understand completely, surely.

But its amazing whats in there, even the Ancient era games I love.
