Okay so this is going to sound really stupid , but what is the iniative token in the new starter for. I was assuming it would be double sided so you could flip it to decide initiative when you match on squad points.

Is it just to put next to whomever has initiative that game, which seems pointless to me.

No it is just given to the player at the start of the game that got initiative. You'd be amazed at how many times even in a tournament game people forget and move and shoot out of order. This way they can still do it, but have something sitting right there by their stuff letting them know who should be doing them first.

I agree. Having an Initiative Token is a great thing. I think it's more for tournaments, but I always use it.

One thing you can do (which is what I do in Casual) is use it to alternate initiative. The depth it adds to equal pilot skill confrontations is incredible, and it's great for Epic.
