help!!! some doubts

By longjohnsilver2, in Battlestar Galactica

Hi, the italian translation of B.G. sucks. Can yoi help me whit some doubts?

1- The Brig, How it works???? What can you do in?

2 - The once a game ability of Chief Tyrol: if someone play the skill card to play faceup the cards during the crisis card, Chief Tyrol have to use his ability before the skill-check, or at the end?

3- There is a way to bring back Vipers in the Galactica from outside, or they can do this only if are damaged.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I will try to answer though I am a n00b at the game too.

1. You can do anything, except move, draw crisis cards or add more than 1 card to a skill check. That means you can activate the skill check or use any other action including on your skill cards, character card or reveal yourself as a cylon. But you can only use 1 skill card in each skill check.

2. I would say that he have to use it after everyone have put their cards in, he could however tell everyone that he is going to use it before he does. But he does not have to do as he said he was going to do.

3. Only damaged, not destroyed. Except if some card of any type says to repair a destroyed viper. (I think there is such a card, but it could be raptor). You cannot repair a destroyed viper or raptor with a repair card.

1- In the Brig, you can't move, draw crisis cards, or add more than one card to a skill check. You can take any action in the Brig that doesn't require any of those things.

Remember that because the brig has a yellow and black line around it, it is a "hazardous area". You can't move into the Brig during a normal movement, you have to be sent there by a card or board effect (such as the Admiral's Quarters).

2- This was addressed in the FAQ - you use the Chief's ability after all of the cards are placed into the skill check, even if they're pre-emptively revealed by the card you're referring to, Investigative Committee. If you have Pegasus, note that the Investigative Committee card was changed so that it no longer reveals the Destiny Deck cards, so he would have to use his ability before you turned over the Destiny cards.

3- Vipers in space automatically land on Galactica when you jump. There's no way to land them before that.

1) You have a standard turn with limits. In your turn, you cannot move and if you are still in the brig at the end of your turn then you do not draw a crisis card. You have the normal ability to take an action in the brig. As normal this can be any action available to your character - including ones from skill cards, other cards if you are the president as an example, the action from your location or you can reveal as a cylon if it is an option (you lose the ability printed on the cylon card in this case). In the brig the action available from your location is a skill check to try and get out. There are actually quite a complex set of options still available to a character in the brig, although it is not an ideal place to be.

In anyone's turn, including your own, you may only add one card to any skill check - that limit is the skill check cards only and does not limit your ability to play cards before or after the skill check as appropriate (Investigative Committees, Declare Emergency and similar cards)

2) Others have answed this, he can do it up to the point that cards would normally be revealed, if there is a card out revealing some or all of the cards during a skill check he can still use the ability even if he has seen some cards.

3) The basic default is that you cannot land vipers. There are some specific exceptions which allow you to have some measure of control of vipers in space by landing them even briefly, most of which involve a player character actions somehow.

First, a player may land their own manned viper by discarding a card.

Second, if there are no vipers in the reserve a player pilot may recall one viper to reserve when they take the Launch action from the hangar deck, this may not sound like much but it can allow you to retrieve an isolated viper that may be about to die or otherwise be useless.

Third, if a player pilot reveals as a cylon their viper is returned to the reserve.

Lastly, all vipers land automatically when Galactica jumps.

As you can see these are limited in their scope.

Hello, I've just purchased the game too and, so I don't open a new topic, I'd appreciate a couple of answers to my own doubts:

1) When the presidency moves from player to player, does the new president also get the unresolved quorum cards the previous president was holding, or are they discarded, or what?

2) Using Baltar's "Coward" ability (him starting the game with 2 loyalty cards instead of 1), does that mean we add 1 extra card in the loyalty deck at the beginning of the game if a player picks Baltar? And in that case,

Thank you.

1) Yes, they are given, incase the (former-) prez is a Cylon and hoards the good Quorums.

2) It says in the rulebook, you add 1 extra 'You are not a Cylon' card for every Gaius Baltar and Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii characters in the game.
