Question for those to'ing sullust

By Reiryc, in Star Wars: Armada

I've been asked to TO sullust.

What do we do if let's say the final 2 players are imperial lists and both players have little to no rebels due to either not brining or traded away their rebel fleets? The final battle is Rebs vs imps with the new stuff.

While yes, we can ask others to loan equipment, is that considered reasonable and appropriate or is that some kind of faux pas.

I have a full fleet of ships they can choose from

I'm TO and playing and bringing all my stuff

I've never done this type of thing before, but is it normal/acceptable to play and to?

Store owner asked but said I couldn't play. I'm ok with it because as a thank you he offered me 1 copy of all wave 1 when it arrives.

If you're going to play and TO, at least have a co-TO that can answer any ruling that involves you.

At this level of event yes it is. It's in the Tournament rules what the restrictions on TO and stuff are. I recommend giving them a good read over.

This.

TOs playing in this level of event are explicitly permitted so long as they have a backup judge.

Also, if the TO is not playing, they are supposed to get fifth choice. However, that can be changed by the store as long as they're up front about it.

Regarding the original question, I count on it not being a problem for me, because Lyraeus will be at my Sullust. If you don't have your own Lyraeus, I'm sure nobody would object to the TO being creative - e.g. top player gets to use the Imp Star, runner-up gets to use the Raider.

That is, unless you have a spoil sport in your midst, but then you're going to have problems no matter what the case.

Let it depend on the number of players that come out. If there's an odd number (including yourself), sit it out; if it's an even number, play. But, yeah, have a co-TO, like BiggsIRL said.

Since I am TOing 2 events which I plan to play, I will be giving prizes to the top 5 players so I have the distinct possibility to not get anything.

I've already said it in another thread and it looks like I'm in the minority about it, but I think it is completely reasonable to expect your players to understand that they may be required to play the faction they aren't familiar with in the final round and they should have some idea of what they will do in case that happens.

I don't think it is bad to ask others to loan equipment and from the players I've met I would assume most would be willing to do so. Although, if someone seems hesitant to loan out their stuff, I would not pressure them to do so.

I don't know what you're in the minority about, unless you're misunderstanding what people are saying.

It's obvious that if the ships are available one person should play Rebels even if - like me - they're a dyed-in-the-wool Imperial. I don't think a majority of people on this forum are arguing against this.

The question is what to do if the Rebel ships aren't available.

There was a thread where people were going on about how the wording of the article allowed them to create illegal fleets because all they had to do was mix the Sullust stuff with their own models.

Wow just when I think the Internet cannot surprise me anymore it finds a way.

In don't really see getting to 400pts as that hard when the Wave 2 items in that list can eat up most of those points. If one is not taking measures to ensure they can play as either side in the 4th round, I'm not really sure that they deserve to be in that round.

Yup let's see. . .

ISD 1 is 110 base. . . Raider 1 is 44 so looking at 154 without at least 1 squadron.

106 for the Command Cruiser, 63 for the Torpedo Frigate, so 169 there.

If you are giving away the 5th prize. How about giving each player from 5 up a pick of the s&v ships? Would make more people happy

There are 8 though.

I don't know... There was a post where someone wanted to STACK their ships during the deployment..... Lol You know who you are.

As for TO playing. I would say if there is a BYE all TOs should be able to play that person. Either have it count. Or not is up to them. Just my opinion.

Everyone forgets that I was on there side I just wanted a logical and reasonable explanation in the rules that made sense. . .

I will have my collection in my large battlefoam bag with me when I run our tournament. I have easily in excess of 600 points of both Rebels and Imperials. If I have too I can lend an entire fleet to whoever has the wrong stuff for the final game.

If your local gaming community is as friendly as our locals you shouldn't have a problem with other players being willing to loan to those who need it for the final game.

Scout, Assault, Akbar and all named Squads (assuming the spoilers are correct) come out to 311. 89 points in upgrades on those 2 ships should be possible. That's not an ideal fleet I don't feel bad if someone had to play it because they didn't make any plans for playing their off faction in the final round.

It's true that I don't have a lot of sympathy for someone who would go to no lengths to figure the solution out, I really don't think it would be a significant problem. I'd certainly loan my stuff out for a game, even to someone who isn't necessarily a friend. I'm sure that many players would, if they needed to.
