Watching dinosaur train not playing armada.

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Right now there is a couple kids and extended family over so we are watching Dinosaur Train on Netflix.

I shed a single tear.

(The parents don't like Star Wars to violent for 4 year olds)

My Son's been through Dinosaur Train on Netflix Twice. Clone Wars Once. and we're waiting for Rebels to switch over, but I have scored them on the PVR in the meantime...

I'm waiting for my college roommates kids to get a year or two older. There will be games. I probably could teach them X Wing with ease. I'm even down for something like Settlers of Catan.

I have Taught kids Carcassonne that were really young. It's matching titles and building a map it is a very chill game that and Takenoko which is really simple and fun.

I have used Carcassonne in private language classes with Chinese kids, they love it and are very chilled. I use monopoly with adults, it gets very, very cutthroat. The trading gets so zero-sum that there is rarely a conclusion to the game in 2 hours.

I have fond memories of my family playing Monopoly. My father taught me some life lessons during those games. He'd offer me something I needed at a quasi reasonable price and I'd turn him down. A turn or two later, he'd offer it again at an inflated price.

He kept doing it until I really needed it and paid a stupid high price for it.

God... My father is a ****. LOL!

Better than Fireman Sam. So.....

Lol

Count your blessings its not Dora, she melts my brain.

God... My father is a ****. LOL!

Sounds like he's pretty smart to me. Kids that don't learn how economics and marketing work early end up broke.

Is Star Wars that violent?

Seriously I've seen more violent stuff in movies than in Star Wars

Yes people in SW universe gets shot, arms/lims sliced off, blown up, fed alive to beasts, thrown off from a tall Walker, clubbed and beaten be small teddybears, hit by rocks and stones, hit by arrows or spears, crash their speeders into trees, just to name a few :) :) :)

So SW violent? I would say yeah, but so is Tom and Jerry and no one suffered childhood traumas from them ;)

I said that in the most loving way I could describe my father while describing his level of cutthroat. :)

Actually my father was a Civilization II god. My friends didn't believe me, then they'd come over and watch him play on deity and come close to winning most times. He still retains that title to this day amongst my closest friends.

As a related note, I played Armada against myself last night. Hopefully you lived vicariously through me Cubanboy!

Hmm.. I must be a bad parent, I let my one year old watch the clone wars. There is shooting and slicing of limbs but it is all cartoony so It does not bother me. The only thing I do not let him watch is episodes with JarJar, I don't want him exposed to that kind of filth.

It is very Trendy to hate on Jar Jar.

Having another one due just weeks from now, I'm taking the strategy of only presenting Star Wars forms of entertainment in the hope that this becomes the only thing perceived as entertaining. I've been through Thomas the Tank Engine, etc. once before and I'm going to really hope that can be avoided with a bit of effort.

Yep it's Dinosaur Train Shawn the sheep and Peter rabbit every night before the kids go to bed I feel your pain

But at least they like rebels haven't shown them clone wars yet. I made the mistake of of telling my daughter when asked why is vader dress like that? I Told her it's because he got burnt now she keeps asking me can we see when vader got burnt and had to put on the mask?

At 5 years old I don't think she is ready for episode 1-3 Jar Jar still gives me nightmares

I have two daughters, ages 4 and 3. They have both seen all Star Wars movies multiple times. Their favorite character is Darth Vader. My younger one even has a Vader placemat at the kitchen table. I'm somewhere between extremely proud and a little concerned...
